Trauma is a haunted house.

So gorgeous and creepy.

Reminded me of Stephen King!

As a young adult thriller, And The Trees Crept In was an enjoyable ride from beginning to end. While at times it felt cliche, those moments were few and far between. It had a distinct similarity to the Slender Man, but that didn't take away from the story; rather, it helped to add to the story.

And The Trees Crept In is creepy without being overwhelming. I definitely recommend it to anyone interested in young adult thrillers.

While reading this story it was very hard to follow in the beginning because its written in a format that is very different. As I progressed through the story I was still very intrigued and wanted to know what was going to happen to the main character. Towards the end I was shocked and in so doing gave it a 5 star rating because, even though it is written in a strange and different format, it still had me hooked and the ending is not what I expected at all. Very good book. Not what I expected at all.

This book was full of some creepy goodness and some twists and surprises I didn't really suspect until I was in much too deep. The foreshadowing was good, the descriptions hit just the right notes to leave me wanting to look over my shoulder or suppress a shudder from time to time, the character development was interesting, and the slow reveal of the backstory (strongly hinted at but only gradually revealed in full throughout the course of the story) was excellent. The big twist at the finale surprised me and was pretty inventive, not at all what I was expecting (or, more appropriately, it took what I had expected and turned it into something I hadn't really seen coming). If you like creepy horror/fantasy for young adults with an interesting twist, this book might be for you.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Holy crap this is one of the darkest written horror stories ever. It made me even squirm when some of the stuff happened like drinking the water with maggots and feeling them in her tummy ahhhhhh! Must read

My gods I have no idea how this book categorized as YA fiction - this shit is dark y'all. Brilliantly written, but dark.

You know how sometimes you pick up a book expecting it to be one thing and it turns out to be so much more? That is this book. Sure it had all the creepiness I was expecting but it also had an atmosphere of increasing desperation, a buildup of madness that had me questioning what to believe, interesting characters, and moments of depth and beauty that were unexpected. I listened to the audiobook and I don’t think I would want to experience this book any other way. The narrator was beyond amazing, the music and sound effects were added at the perfect moments to build suspense.

I listened to this audiobook and I have to say it is the BEST audiobook I've ever listened to. The production value was amazing - there was creepy music and spine-tingling sound effects and the reader was astounding. This book was so amazingly creepy. The Creeper Man actually invaded my nightmares and I woke up screaming. Highly recommend for someone who wants to be thoroughly creeped out by a good story.
