I'll never turn down a book about getting a better attitude and not wasting life away being a grumpy old ass. Lol.
Grumpy old, literature-loving Arthur insists on making everyone as miserable as he is. Despite his best efforts to be left alone and his VERY undeserving personality, an unlikely crew of randos form a book club under his roof. Sometimes the people who act like they don't need love are the ones who need it the most.
The title was perfect for this book. I loved that each character's quality of life was "eh" until they met each other. Each person's life improves when they stop focusing solely on themselves and open their hearts to helping their buddies. There wasn't a peak in the book, in my very unprofessional opinion, but I enjoyed the ride nonetheless.
I liked this book. It was enjoyable and a quick page-turner. I'd give it a solid 3.5/5. I appreciated the perspective of each character. Everyone is going through something, you know?
Good choice for a book club book! Happy with it overall.

I loved the premise of this book, and I loved the characters, who each got a chance to propel the story forward from their own perspective. It had a lot to say about relationships and making the most out of our lives. This book was reminiscent of A Man Called Ove, and while I didn’t love it as much as I loved Ove, it was still very good.
Perfect start to the new year. This story has some many things I enjoy: multiple characters telling the story from their perspective, book club, books and love of reading. A reminder of how so many stories out there that sound like love stories are in fact stories where the main character falls in love with who they are.

I listened to this one and thought it was a really fun listen! Narrated by different characters throughout and an enjoyable read if you’re a book lover who appreciate the ways that books have a way of speaking into our lives in ways that little else can. A bit predictable but still a fun read.
