Wow! The Venue was the first book by T.J. Payne that I have read and it did not disappoint me. If you like horror books and a bit of gore (not too much, but just enough), then you should enjoy this book. Well written and a quick easy read.

I’m so happy those two died cause I would have crashed out myself. Only men cause be that delulu
Pleasantly surprised
I started the book thinking it was just twist to the Belko Experiment and though there was a bit of that, it nevertheless was an interesting story. I really did not think I would sympathize with some of the characters while viscerally despising others.
I truly enjoyed it and had to force myself to pit it down because I had to go to work.
Definitely recommend it.

A Killer Wedding ; )
This is a fun, fast Slasher style story. Family, friends, colleagues, former teachers, everyone is invited to the wedding of Caleb and Lilith. Caleb is a newly minted millionaire and has booked an extraordinary venue for his wedding.
All the the guests are overwhelmed at the expense that has been gone into making this wedding happen. The thing is, all the guests, of both Bride and Groom, really should have had no expectations of ever being invited by the couple. They are all people who tormented, ridiculed and just made life in general miserable up to this point.
After the bizarre wedding vows are exchanged, and the couple are now Man and Wife, the guests are ushered into the elaborate Ballroom for the dinner and reception. Then the games begin.

God, I love this book. I think this is my 4th time re-reading it. It’s one of my favorite formulas for entertainment; strangers (a mix of nefarious, selfish & selfless) in an isolated location (cabin in the woods/private island/haunted house lockdown) brought together for a singular purpose (reading of a will, family reunion, reality tv show) and discover that there’s more involved than anyone could have guessed! Anyone on the fence: if you enjoyed the movie "The Menu" with Ralph Fiennes, you'll love this.
Here's how I casted the book:
Caleb played by Christopher Gorham
Lilith played by Samara Weaving
Amy played by Rashida Jones
Mariko played by Ayaka Miyoshi
Amy's Mom played by Penelope Wilton
Amy's Dad played by Jim Broadbent

The story was far more nuanced and psychological than I initially expected it to be. A conversation early on sets the tone for the dynamic of the couple to be wed.
