This book... y'all I can't.
It wasn't that it was bad but I feel like it could have been LOAAADS better. I did like all the hinting at who Reagan's father and then the final big reveal. Her powers were awesome as were her detectice skills. But she was like an overpowered boss in a video game. I guess that stems from her father's bloodline tied in with her mom's magical prowess.
Her weird attempts at catch phrases was annoying. The relationship with Darius I didn't fully understand, I did want some sort of development in that instead of just the occasional dry humping and "MMMM YOU SMELL GOOD WHAT ARE YOU?" Type stuff. Even if all they did was remain badass bounty hunter teammates would have been better than the ending we got.
Reagan is a boss ass bitch and she knows it but shes also pretty immature while Darius is all prim and proper except when for whatever reason they begin to get all hot and heavy.

The book scenes seemed to jump around a lot, I was reading on kindle and though I had somehow skipped pages and had to go back and decipher what in the world was going on
Fight scenes were super cool
Characters and Character development... not so much
Come for the promise of bounty hunters and elder vampires... stay for the sword fights and jokes about bringing guns to them.

My favourite K.F. breene series are: Demigods of san Francisco, Deliciously dark fairytales, and the warrior chronicles.
I've tried a few others by the author, and they didn't hold my interest the way the above mentioned did. I've read this book once before during a slow day and it kept my interest but I didn't feel the need to continue...but I missed this Author's humor and found family dynamics so I thought is give it another try.
Whilst I did laugh and wanted to know how it ended, I really struggled to finish it. I find the characters fine, but I'm not in love with any of them. I found that I was continuing to read because of the love I have for the other series by this author.

Easy to read fluff. Getting tired if the uncomfortably possessive vampire thing that keeps popping up in books like this.
Good action scenes, and I love me a strong, sassy female protagonist. There just wasn't enough original about the plot or the characters to make this stand out to me. I did like the reveal of Reagan's secret, which could make for some interesting future plot movement, but for now it was just meh.
I listened to the graphic audio version of this. The actors were great, the story bored me though. I didn’t really see the point of this story. I had high hopes because I have read Breene‘s “A ruin of roses” series and absolutely loved it! Plus the reviews for this book were good. It just wasn’t for me, and that stinks.
Graphic Audio on Libby for the win.
Not sure if I would have made it through the first half of the book without it. But I will say with the full cast, I enjoyed it enough to finish in one day while going about my day. Now to wait for the next copy of the Graphic Audio book on Libby.

Quit this book halfway through because the narrator in the audible version was so annoying and the stupid affectation she donned was so shrill and over-the-top that it gave me a headache and leeched all written value from the book.
I’ve been with audible for about a year and buy about 4 additional books per month- this was the first one I returned for my credit back.
It was seriously disappointing because I VERY much enjoyed the Demigod of San Francisco series and had high hopes for these 9 books. Sucks the voice actor is the same for this whole series.

Really enjoyed. Looking forward to book two, which I think is out next month.
