Setelah dibaca, rasanya ini emang khas klasik banget. Agak kaget ternyata Dazai juga bisa nulis cerita semacam ini (meski cuma semacam re-telling aja). Terus jadi makin kagum sama Oreki yang bisa menemukan sudut pandang baru dari cerita ini, padahal dia bikin resensi itu waktu kelas 1 SMP. Emang orang jenius mah beda. Katanya, Melos sebenernya nggak perlu lari; cukup jalan biasa aja pasti nyampe kok, asal dia bisa manage waktu aja. Komentar itu bikin saya teringat diri sendiri, yang seharusnya bisa jalan santai aja tapi memilih untuk lari-lari menjelang deadline.

私なりにどうしてそんなに太宰さんが好きなのか考えてみました。理由は、彼は正直で、本当の自分を曝け出したからじゃないかな…と思います。見栄っ張りなところも妙に卑屈なところも、「畜犬談」などでは微妙な心と感情の動きはいかにも人間っぽくて、そういうのをすべてユーモアの効いた筆致で如実に書かれています。また、自分はどうやら太宰さんの考えに共感しやすいどうしようもない人種らしいです（笑）この本の作品の多くは彼にとっていわば更生期間に書いたもので、手探りで道を探しているみたいな感じがあり、傑作とまでは言えませんが、それでも面白く、この人苦労しているなーって思わせる作品です。

I read this short story last year but forgot to put it down as read lol but it was pretty good
This was such a fascinating collection, particularly the titular story (although I also enjoyed 富嶽百景). The story "走れ、メロス！" [hashire merosu] is based on Friedrich Schiller's ballad Die Bürgschaft, itself based on the classic Roman story of Moerus and Selinuntius recorded by Gaius Julius Hyginus, itself based on an ancient Greek legend of Damon and Pythias. Not quite a palimpsest, but definitely intertextual recursion. Storytelling is cool, yo.
