I had no idea this book would go in the directions it did as I really did not know anything at all when I decided to read it. There were some predictably developments but I  was amazed by the philosophical nature and symbolism within the book, as well as how many loose ends were tied up (which is an issue I find many similar books miss). Not a 5 star because there were indeed still some things I felt needed more information surrounding characters like Kate, Raymond and Eaton about their lives between childhood and adulthood, as well as why certain things in particular happened to these characters the way they did. I am very glad to have read this though- defined captivating and beautifully written.

This was interesting. It starts off when two people, Jake and Clara, sit next to each other on their flight, they both seem familiar but they can’t figure out how they know each other. Jake and Clara try to put it all together but they can’t pinpoint it. Right before they split off at the airport Clara tells Jake she came to Colorado to kill herself. The story takes you on the journey of how it all began. Some parts were slower than it needed to be but overall it was a good story.

This is one of those books where the less you know going into it, the better. I did read the back cover blurb before starting it and although the plot summary is accurate, the novel still went in a totally different direction than I thought it would. It's surprising, twisty, compelling, and compulsively readable. I really liked it, but again, it was not at all what I expected it to be.

Felt like a rip-off of The Institute and not in a good way. Could have used a healthy dose of editing.

*Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC!*

I went into this without reading many reviews (because the first review I read saw it was best to go in blind!), this is one that I'm not sure I would've picked up if I had read the other reviews first. It was fine - not bad, not great, just fine - and with a list of books to be read that is hundreds of books long, I likely wouldn't have read it if I had read similar reviews first. The story was okay - I was definitely hooked at the beginning! - but again, nothing stunning. Quick read!
