TL;DR Review: A must read for fans of Tangled looking to get into the show or simply learn more about the friendship between Cassandra and Rapunzel. It’s a great introduction that shows their dynamic and sets the pieces for the big twist in the second season, while also showing just how important each character is to the other.
Content Warnings: Anxiety, Mild Violence.
”It looked as though we were dancing through the air - together and free.”

This book is made to be read before fans watch the series - it introduces fans to the relationship dynamic of Rapunzel and Cassandra in a fun and cute way that left a huge smile on my face. At the same time though, it also plays a huge role in showing how their friendship developed and Cass’s lack of trust in people, even once she knows them.
For those that read this novel, it’s easy to see why Cassandra’s character developed as she did in the series. In her own way, she has always been waiting for Rapunzel to fail her as a friend and go back to the excuse of why she does not need anyone in her life. She is quick to dismiss everyone in Corona as being less than her on many fronts, seeing her own Worth only in her physical prowess, rather than as a person.
I think at the end, this book really shows the dynamic between Rapunzel and Cass in a way that was not fully fleshed out in the television show, due to it picking up after the start of their friendship. Here we get to see the insecurities between them both and how Cass pushes Rapunzel away many times throughout their journey together. Its a story of love and how much they both grow to mean to one another, with Rapunzel wearing her heart on her sleeve, while Cass learns to trust. It’s a great look into their character development and a must read before getting into the show!
Also, not gonna lie, this book comes off as very romantic between Rapunzel and Cassandra, something I adore. It really shows their growing affection for one another, but also doesn’t push Eugene away from Rapunzel at all, which I appreciate since I love both ships. Seriously though, this book feels very much like it wants you to ship the leading ladies.

Tangled is my favorite movie. Tangled the Series is just as awesome. So, I’m going to read anything that comes from them. This book is pretty good for a children’s show tie-in book. It gives you a peek into what happened off screen in both the movie and show. This book alternates POV between Rapunzel and Cassandra. I’m never really fond of POV switches...unless they are done with extraordinary care. I didn’t expect a companion book for a tv cartoon to be one of those situations, so I wasn’t surprised I didn’t love it. I definitely preferred the Rapunzel POVs. Also, at times, it almost felt a little fan fiction-y. I’ve never looked for TtS fanfic, but I’m willing to bet a lot of it features Rapunzel and Cassandra as not just friends. And this book frequently had me questioning whether that was the implication. (This absolutely could have been in my head. In fact, I doubt kids would read into it like that.) The story is light and it’s a quick read. (When you actually read. I know it took me a while, but only because I put it down a lot.)
I wish goodreads had half stars! Like this is a 3.5 star for me, but I don't know if I want to round up or down.....
This book took me two whole months to read. I just don't think I was in the mood for it when I started it, but I love Rapunzel so I didn't want to dnf it. I ended up enjoying it overall. It had the same vibe as the movies, but still added a lot. I really just want to binge watch the tv show now. It was a super quick read once I got into it and I really do love the dynamic between Cass and Raps. They really complement each other. There was absolutely no Maximus and very little of Pascal and Eugene, but I think this book was supposed to spotlight the friendship between Cassandra and Rapunzel that the show is going to be more focused on, but I'm not mad about it. (Although I do love Eugene). I kind of wish this could be put into the movies/tv show canonically although I know it probably won't be. A good read if you love Rapunzel and are in to the new tv show.

I was a little disappointed in this one. Rapunzel is my favorite, and I get this is supposed to be about her finding a true friendship she's never been able to have before, but it just dragged quite a bit. I missed Eugene and Maximus. It was a little difficult to like Cassandra. She was harsh and overreacted about a lot of things. I'm hoping the second book will be better.
