Oh my goodness. The LONGING. The YEARNING. THE TEARS IVE CRIED AND MAKEUP IVE RUINED!!!
I came across this book when the author popped up as I was scrolling Threads and I’m so glad the universe set me on this path because this book might just be one of the best things I’ve ever read. The build up was insane. The twist near the end that had me shaking in my boots! A very unique kind of romance that I never knew I needed to experience on page. A love that spans lifetimes!!! Wow. Just wow.

look i want to see this book through but i can’t
what started as a solid 5 star read to me has sorely depreciated because i can’t stand how infuriating the fmc is!

she’s always speaking out of turn, i mean, how do you go about threatening fae creatures?? have you no iota of fear?? even if just a bit????

i’m so tired of her
i’m at my peak w her yapping angrily at Fate. FATE.

it’s no wonder their story keeps ending in tragedy.

i can’t again abeg.

story was good! main character was unlikeable and annoying … all about compromise

Gorgeous. I’m enthralled. The mythology and legend. The mystery and suspense. The angst and pining. Fate and Time. Give me book two now !

Really enjoyed this first installment, a decent amount of traditional folklore especially welsh which was refreshing. Nice to have an immoral fall for an adult too— FMC is in her thirties

If you’re looking for
-Slow burn
-Heavy world building focus
-Urban fantasy romance
-Welsh mythology and lore
-Fae history and myth
-Bi rep
-Kelpies
-A murder mystery

And if you’re fans of things like The Folk of the Air series and Fae/Unseelie lore, then I simply must recommend you give this book a try.

I adored Raegan, her brashness, her tenacity, and snark. And her relationship with the Fae King EEEEE. I don’t want to say too much to give anything away. But I love them so so much! I honestly love their story and how they are connected. And I love that Victoria can write this whole book from Raegan's POV, but you can just FEEL what the King is going through still.

And UGHHHHH the longing and the pining and the subtleties to the language being that the King is Fae. It’s one of the things I love most about the Fae mythology - no lying, no thank yous, you must be very very clear in what you are bargaining and offering, and no faerie fruit lol

If you’re looking to escape to the Fae realm, pick up this book and just enjoy!

The author sent me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts are my own.

I felt kinda bimodal about this book. On one hand I love the mythology, the faerie world, the magic.

On the other hand, the writing style is challenging for me. The author uses *so* many metaphors and similes, like sometimes several in one sentence, that they stop being effective. Some descriptions of smells or feelings are really repetitive (“the smell of woodsmoke”, “hunger uncoiling”).

Really delicious story, felt like it could have used better editing.

Also I appreciated the list of content warnings the author provided, but I think what actually affected me in this book wasn’t actually in them.
