Pretty enjoyable and easy read. I enjoyed the various plot twists, but they all seemed a bit much when you take into account what actually happened.

Best book I have read in a long time.

Owen and Luna share a very close friendship. So close that they're more comfortable around each other than their own spouses. What makes this book unique is that their friendship is completely platonic, nothing more. I really enjoyed Lisa Lutz's writing style; you get multiple perspectives from each person in one paragraph. It was just like watching a tv show. If you have nothing else to read, give it a go.

Oooooo that was good and twisty. It was nice to see the humor back.

I do love her writing. This wasn't the best of hers I have read, but worth a read for sure.

I received an advanced reader copy of The Accomplice from Random House Publishing Group – Ballantine Books via NetGalley, in return for my honest opinion.

The Accomplice by Lisa Lutz is a story about friendship, secrets and staying true to oneself. Luna Grey is socially awkward, has few friends and always has her guard up. Owen Mann is someone that people are drawn to but is always looking for something more than what he has. Owen and Luna strike up a friendship in college and are soon inseparable.

Years later they are both married and live within walking distance of each other. Both Luna and Owen are in struggling marriages due to the secrets they keep. When Luna discovers Owen’s wife has been murdered, tragedies from both Luna and Owen’s pasts will be revealed and their friendship will be put to the test.

This was an excellent story, with a great pace that reads like a mutual friend is catching you up on what’s been happening in Luna and Owen’s lives. The Accomplice is available today, January 25, 2022.

The journey was better than the destination.

This was one of three books I read last week, that have been on my TBR list for a while but I have been putting off for some unknown reason. Turns out I shouldn't have put them off because they were all solid, entertaining, smart reads.

I don't want to say too much about this, so far from the pub date, so I will just say that this had every single thing I want in a thriller - twisty but not overly so, well-written characters who acted in accordance with their personalities, characters I cared about even when they did lousy things, an explanation that I accepted and made sense.

One thing kept this from being five stars for me, and it is just a matter of opinion. (I mean I guess everything is but this is more along the lines of what I wanted to have happen, as opposed to bad writing.)

Great new stand-alone from Lisa Lutz (with an Izzy Spellman vibe). The Accomplice tells the story of Owen and Luna who have been friends ever since college, and are now confronted with the fallout from the murder of Owen's wife. The story goes back and forth in time between college and the present. The author does a remarkable job of threading the needle to drop enough hints about what happened in the past to capture the reader's interest but not so many that they are intrusive and obvious. Her characteristic wry sense of humor permeates the book, primarily through the character of Luna. This was both a page-turner and a meditation on the nature of friendship and how well you can really know another person. Highly recommend! And thank you to Penguin Random House for the ARC!
