Thank you, next!

So, as you can see from my review below, I really enjoyed this book on my first read. Needing a comfort audiobook, I decided to get this on Audible. It's only been like 5 months and I had a pretty different experience with this book listening to it. I always find it hard with audiobooks and knowing how much of my reaction to a book is the book itself, and how much is the narration. For this book, I think the issue probably sits somewhere in the middle. I found the heroine more frustrating and I found the hero way more aggressive, which given the subject matter, was more off-putting than how it was in my own head when I first read it.
My threshold for rating books is always "Would I recommend it?". This doesn't mean I'd need to recommend it to everyone but would at least need to feel comfortable recommending it to people who generally read in the genre, and on second read, I don't think I would. I would, however, recommend "Wait for It" by Mariana Zapata, which is very similar and will always be a favorite of mine.
Hence, this book has made a quick shift from one of my top books of the year to a three-star read.
Romance satisfaction —❤️❤️❤️.5

This was cuteeeeee
the slow burn was slowww burn, but it was cute.
Some parts were very simplistic, and that was a little frustrating. But I understand it was a light book.

First of all I really like the author and the message she conveys in the preface of the book.
So often we see heroines that have it all, are rich etc. But 30% of households are headed by single parents/women in the US. I enjoy that the author speaks to this underserved, under applauded demographic.
I'm not liking some of the things the main character is doing. I don't get why she's martyring herself when she has perfectly good parents willing to support her. She's sacrificing time with her kid and giving him opportunities for what? Pride? Not adding up here and its' a really poor message. Also, I don't get the 4 associate's degrees either? Why not get the bachlors?
Also like her kid is worried about money and I'm not getting why she's not asking for help from her parents. Again doing more harm than good.
