On paper, this was definitely a book for me. I love dark academia and I love vampires, so what could go wrong?
Well... a few things apparently.
Firstly, I wasn't sold on the characters. I didn't really like them, nor did I feel any of their decision-making was particularly rational and so I found myself annoyed and detached from them for most of the book. Then I also wasn't totally won over by the prose and even the plot felt less like a cohesive story than a sequence of events.
Still, I did finish this and was intrigued by some part of it. I think some would like this, it just wasn't really what I hoped it would be.

honestly, it was missing something and that impacted the story greatly for me.. there were times i found myself amused and other times i really struggled to finish and for that i couldn’t give anything higher than 3 stars. i do however think the author has potential.
“The world loves to punish girls who dream in the dark. I plan to worship them”
While Immortal Dark is categorized as YA, beware reader, it is dark. This book has a soul, a young one, learning to stand. Kidan has lost her family and her sister and she will move heaven and hell to bring her sister back safely. This is a story of rebirth, of found family, of finding the strength within yourself, even if it’s within the very darkest parts of yourself. The house Kidan must master is alive and has plans of its own. The vampire Kidan must live with is her sworn enemy and biggest threat. CPTSD and suicidal ideation run as rampant as murder in this gothic, dark academia.
I look forward to watching Tigest’s writing mature as this trilogy continues. This may be the best vampire book I’ve ever read. It blends the classic scary vampire with the cheesy romance we’ve all come to love in a vampire story. This is truly a perfect October read!
