Absolutely fantastic fun. The angst I saw coming never happened. He simply talks to her and avoids all the heartbreak. Loved that. Serious social issues woven into a romcom give it some depth.

This book was mesmerizing. I read most of it in one sitting because I was having so much fun with the story and didn’t notice time passing by. I love historical/regency romances and this one was so refreshing. It was somehow true to the genre while also feeling a little modern. Selina was a perfect FMC for this. She was bold and outgoing without being too domineering or pushy in thinking she was right about all things. I feel like that is a very fine line when developing a character like this so hats off to Vasti for accomplishing it. She also has room to grow and learn to accept help. Peter was goofy, loyal, and swoony. I absolutely adored everything about him, right down to his own struggles with his personal worth. I loved the take on feminism in this storyline and I think that it contributed so much to this book. I love the idea of women taking knowledge for themselves in a time when men wanted to keep them ignorant in the name of “innocence.” Vasti approached that topic very tactfully and poignantly.
My only “complaint” is that I feel like some of the background references to Selina’s twin, her friend Faiza, and her initially meeting Peter sounded like there is another novel out there I’ve missed. Yet I cannot for the life of me figure out if it exists which is a bummer because I very much want to read it! All in all I loved this book and I cannot wait to read Lydia’s story next.

i love the subtle diversity of the cast of characters and i love the characters in general. they are all so wonderful and i want to be friends with all of them. i appreciated a lot how the main conflict was handled because her original idea to fix it made me annoyed so i'm very glad that was not what actually happened. the hearing scene was hilarious and emotional. loved the balance of emotion and humor throughout the book

It feels strange to call Alexandra Vasti a debut author as she has been firmly cemented in my favourite authors list for more than a year, but this is her first written, first published story. It feels so good to finally hold a work of hers in my hands and on my treasures shelf. This story is full of all the nuance that I love in her writing. From spunky heroines to lovesick heroes. It is full of witty women pushing society’s boundaries and the men who stand beside them eagerly shining their light. Peter is full-in from the starting gate while Selina pushes her feelings so deep even she can’t see them, guiding him in a search for a respectable duchess. The problem is none of these women are good enough, because she is the only woman right for the role. Though scandal is her name, pride is her game and she will dig her way out of whatever hole society shoves her into. Alongside these two is a madcap cast of loveable side characters, not the least of which are Peter’s precocious siblings, Freddie& Lu. Freddie is the ever lovable brother who is eager to please and Lu is the wild tomboy who refuses to be held back by anyone, in anything. From the very first page I was already in love with Lu’s tenacious spirit and macabre way of thinking. She’s a little rough around the edges and I wouldn’t take her any other way. Throughout the story I found myself eagerly pairing off side characters for potential romance in what I hope is a long series. I know who’s next but I’ve got my list of guesses ready for the following sequels. If you enjoy wild, zany adventures in love, you will love Ne’er Duke Well.

I’m a big fan. This cute historical romance filled a hole I didn’t know I had. From the beginning, I loved Peter and Selina and even when I got worried in the middle that things weren’t going they way I wanted, Alexandra kept me interested and hopeful.

Peter is a relatively new Duke. He inherited the title, despite being rather far down the line of inheritance and moved from Louisiana to London about two years ago. When he learned of his half siblings, Lu and Freddie, and their mother passed away, he went to court for custody.

However custody isn’t going to be easy to come by. Luckily Selina is on his side and has a plan to get him married and more likely to win the court case. Except she can’t be on the list, despite being rather fond of him.

There are some poetic licenses with the historical accuracy of some characters actions, but the modern girl in me loved the characters, their responses, and the story itself. This is a quick read, an all around feel good book. Would definitely recommend.

Ne’er Duke Well is exactly what I needed. There were no thoughts while reading,  I could just enjoy the story, and the relationship dynamic between Peter and Selina is perfection -  golden retriever hero + Fix it heroine.

I can't wait for Lydia's story! Also, would it be too much to ask for Will to be a love interest in a future book?
