Plain Truth

Another great book by one of my favorite authors. The Amish theme mixed with an 18 yr. old girl, a dead baby, a strict father and a disenchanted lawyer from the big city makes for a great read.

I powered through this book just to get all the answers, and not because I found it particularly enjoyable. By the time I did get all the answers, I no longer cared. I’ve also read Mad Honey, and found Plain Truth to be similarly formulaic. I generally don’t mind cheap entertainment, but prefer to consume that genre through movies or streaming. I can understand why people enjoy her books, for the cheap entertainment value, but I would rather binge Virgin River than spend 10 hours reading this flimflam. Maybe a beach book!

Re-read 2020 Project of Dora and Sandra #lerjodipicoult

Captivating, Exciting, Charming

4 stars.

I had read this book last year and I loved it! It wasn't the best I ever read from Jodi Picoult but it was really good.

Following a big city lawyer as she took over a case of an Amish girl accused of murdered her just-born son. During this book, we follow the lawyer Ellie in her search of the plain truth about this case and her life inside the Amish community.

While reading this book we will face the doubt of Ellie in believing in Katie, Katie's important memories, and why she acts the way she does, the trial that she must face, and how the Amish community deals which topics like lawyers, electricity, and forgiveness. The most important who is the killer of the baby!
The big part for me is the inside view of the Amish community which I appreciated so much and I think it is very well done.

I think the two main characters are very complex, different from each other but when they find the middle ground between them they can understand what they are feeling and why they do things the way they do.

I love Jodi Picoult's writing style, very fluid but also with a lot of important information, research, and deep to the characters she creates. Each book tells a different story with a lot of content to be discussed and analyzed which makes this author so rich.
Even older books like this one can be relevant and actual nowadays.

So I highly recommend check out others Jodi Piclut's books and follow the hashtag #lerjodipicoult on Instagram and Youtube to find the project and be part of this amazing year reading Jodi Picoult.

The best Picoult book I've read to date.

I really enjoyed this book, and I didn't think that I would. A friend of mine chose it to read for our book club, and I was hooked from the very first page. Those of us who have finished the book have started discussing it before the club meets at the end of the month.

The book detailed amish life, so much so that the end was shocking, leaving me with lots of questions.
