Not JP's best. I found one of the main characters, Katie, to be a bit kind of insufferable. There are many other novels by JP I would recommend over this one (Small Great Things, The Storyteller, The Pact, Nineteen Minutes, My Sister's Keeper..).

A few things that annoyed me are listed below.

SPOILERS AHEAD !!

What was even the point of the whole ghost storyline? It didn't go anywhere like you'd think it would, but it was too weird to not go anywhere... so WHY?!. It could have done without and Katie and Adam could have gotten together for a plethora of other, normal, reasons.

I'm kind of annoyed we went through the entire trial and were left hanging to see what the jury decided, only to have them take a plea deal. No matter how good of an outcome it was for Katie, I'm still wondering what the Jury would decide. They always say the longer the jury takes, the better that is for the defendant because there is clearly doubt.

did Sarah kill the baby? or just do the hiding part of it? and WTF, worst mom ever. and dad for that matter. bleh.

I keep trying to read Jodi Picoult because growing up, that was the author adults read. I guess I'm not a grown up yet lol.

I loved this book as a teen and I still love it today. I always loved reading about Amish

This book was just ok for me. I didn't dislike it; I just didn't love it. I had a hard time getting into it for some reason. I thought that the story and plot were intriguing, but I thought that there were too many main characters and that the jumps in perspective were somewhat disconcerting. It also felt a bit too contrived and unrealistic. But, as I said before, the premise of the novel was interesting.

I really enjoyed this book, the story was something really different from your average novel and I was genuinely intrigued about what happened.

For some odd reason I have been reading a lot of books lately about the Amish people. I have been reading Beverly Lewis sereis Abrahams Daughters and for a break, decided to try a Jodi Picoult book. Much to my suprise when I opened up Plain Truth...it was about Amish people. I think because I had been reading Beverly Lewis books, and was familiar with the Amish culture through her stories, I really enjoyed this book. Jodi Picoult does a MUCH better job of creating intrigue in her plot line. And this was no exception. It is a typical Jodi Picoult book with the "suprise ending" that in my mind cheapens the story a bit, but in this case I actually like the ending. This is one of the better books by Picoult.
