i am a jodi picoult stan first and a human being second. not my favorite of hers, started off a bit slow with kind of inconsistent characterization, but the second half took off without a hitch in the way that jodi picoult always does

Review to come!

This book really drew me in, mostly because I got to learn so much about the amish. They've always interested me. I don’t know why. Its definitely not a way of life I could manage to live in…but I like it. I found the katie character a little frustrating, but I liked the main character, ellie. I think that the liz detective woman was kind of thrown in..at the beginning it seemed like she might flesh her out more, but then she never did, and kind of forgot about her. It was also pretty weird seeing ellie from the pov of the local law enforcement, and then seeing her through the first and third person narration. It's like who they were talking about was someone else from who I was seeing. Anyway, a very good book. The only thing is, the ending was supposed to be another twisty surprise ending, and, as usual, it wasn’t. I definitely had suspected that might be the case part way through I thought wow I bet x and sure enough, come the end of the book - x. I do recommend this book and I've already lent it out to someone to read.

I love it when you learn something when you read a novel!

I love this author! When a young Amish girl is charged with murdering her baby - after no one knew she was pregnant - a second cousin is called in to defend her and ends up moving in with the family as a bail condition, and so learns a lot about Amish culture and society. Wonderfully told from multiple perspectives, thought-provoking and controversial while also being kind and sensitive, but I'm getting used to Picoult's narrative structure, I think, and so picked the twist quite early on.

Loved the twist ending!!!

One of the fastest Picoult books I have read! I was on a bit of a time crunch but it was very enjoyable and definitely a page turner for me. I also haven't read one of her books in a while and this was an older one but very good!

One of my favorite Picoult books. I live in an Amish community, and they can really be closed off sometimes, but friendly too. I couldn't put this down!

Really good writing, which I find such a rare treat these days. Original premise, well researched, interesting characters, some unpredictable plot twists.... Great book! I admit I've avoided Jodi Picoult in the past solely because she's written too many books. It's an unwarranted bias in this case. Yes, some authors turn out trash on a regular basis that is widely admired by the masses. However, Jodi is truly talented in the writing department. What's your favorite Jodi Picoult novel? I'll be looking to read another soon!
