Wow what a phenomenal story! I loved the story with Victoria and Hawke they are such warm hearted, realistic characters that would make great friends, in real life. Reading about Scarlet Springs and the relationships between everyone how they care for one another, makes it my dream place to live. It may be a fictional town but the way its written it feels like home. Its the place I look forward to living one day.

I loved the first book in this series and I didn't think anything could live up to Austin and Lexi's story, this book is right up there with it. After Eric and Victoria met at the Denver Airport in the first book and it went horribly wrong, a year later after Victoria has been blackmailed and treated horribly by a man, she's changed and not sure if she can get close to Eric or if she completely trusts herself.

Only their chemistry does nothing but draw them together and its almost like they subconsciously throw fire-crackers in the air. As they grow closer together, they know they only have a week together before she goes back to Chicago but they're not taking Austin and Lexi's wedding week for granted. Until the night of the wedding, an accident happens and Eric is forced to face his feelings and his fear of losing her. Eric may be a sexy firefighter, member of Search and Rescue, and a paramedic but he is so much more.

I love this series and all these characters. I love the fact that everyone is so close knit in Scarlet Springs. I don't know who I'm hoping the next story is about but whoever it is, I can't wait.

[4.25 Stars] I read the first book in the Colorado High Country in 2022, and while I enjoyed it, it didn't spur me on to read the rest of the series right away. However, I finally picked up Slow Burn, and I was surprised by how much I loved it! While I'm not a huge fan of the instalove trope, I thought Pamela Clare developed Eric and Vic's relationship nicely, and I wasn't put off by the instalove. I also appreciated Pamela Clare's use of suspense to keep me glued to the pages, and I won't wait as long next time before picking up the next book!

I like Pamela Clare and read most of her I-Team books years ago. I know her heroes are too perfect and so are the heroines, all are super good looking, smart, kind, and amazing in bed! But usually there is a good story to go along with it. I always learn things when I read her books, so that's a bonus.

I read the first Colorado High Country book and found it enjoyable with a good story going on along with the romance. We all know the eventual outcome of the romance, so the mystery or suspense story is there to provide a background for the characters. Book 1 lived up to that. Unfortunately, I didn't feel the same about Slow Burn. There was no story other than the wedding week activities and a "mystery" in Victoria's recent past. I thought this was supposed to be a romantic suspense, but it was really just a contemporary romance, but without enough focus on the story of their relationship.

I'm debating about going on to #3. I'll definitely get it from the library.

I'm only one year late with reading this but who's counting? Anyway I'd like to thank Jae for gifting me this book for my birthday last year--may our mutual love for Kristen Ashley, Pamela Clare, and alpha male heroes live forever <3

I haven't read Pamela Clare in a while so I really enjoyed coming back to her writing. I love the whole S&R Team and their bond; Clare write great camaraderie among her characters. I was beside myself when my love Gabe Rossiter made a cameo in this I JUST LOVE HIM SO MUCH I NEED MORE OF HIM. The only reason why I didn't rate this higher is because I feel unattached to Vic and Eric. They're both great characters and I love their chemistry and the way they slowly fell in love with each other, but compared to other Clare OTPs I felt something missing with this pair.

On to the 3rd book! Jae said it's the cutest and I can't wait to read it.
