Despite taking me a YEAR to read this book, I think it is a great resource to read as a parent or a teacher. If you work with children, I woud recommend you at least browse it at some point.
informative
Very helpful. (I even found out I am an HSP; never had the term before and just considered myself "neurotic.") Will be worth revisiting when my kid's older too.
If you have a child who reacts intensely to sudden senses, experiences, or emotions, read this book. Some evolutionary perspectives, but overall lots of helpful material.

Super interesting and insightful. Gave me some good strategies and let me feel better. Highly recommend.
I learned a lot about how to talk to my daughter and son who both are highly sensitive. I just wish they had more recommendations for school.
The Highly Sensitive Child: Helping Our Children Thrive When the World Overwhelms Them by Elaine Aron 4.5/5 ⭐️ - My entire life people have called me sensitive, and most times they don’t mean it in a nice way. What I have come to learn, with maturity and perspective, is that you can take your challenges and use them as a superpower. Most of the time I actually feel lucky to be sensitive to everything around me now; being perceptive, creative, thoughtful, and synthesizing are all important skills. I’ve also learned what triggers me to feel overwhelmed, so I can avoid that feeling as much as possible. As you can imagine, being a highly sensitive parent with a highly sensitive child can be extremely challenging. This book includes loads of actionable tips for parents of sensitive children at all ages. It’s no secret that Grace has had a lot of struggles lately, and we are doing everything we can to understand where she’s coming from so we can help her be the best she can be. This book definitely helped us in that journey. #rachels2020readinglist
I read this book to fulfil the goal read a book with a family member term in the title (child). i had picked it up to better learn how to parent my son who displays a lot of autistic/asbergers symptoms. it didn't really describe him, but i did learn a lot about myself. it turns out that i have a lot of the highly sensitive traights and probably was a highly sensitive child. my mom did a lot of things right i must say. raising a highly sensitive child isn't easy. my favorite quote from the book is "to have an exceptional child you must be willing to have an exceptional child" hopefully i will turn out to be as good of a mother to my highly sensitive kid as my mother was to me.
While I do not agree with 100% of the parenting techniques, this book was life-changing for understanding myself and my HSC identical twins!
