I can't remember how many times I've read this book, several times as a child and now with each of my own children. Serenity and I just finished reading this together and her review " it was amazing." Personally I love the simplicity of the story Sarah, Plain and Tall and the picture that Patricia McLaughlin paints with her words for young readers. This will always be a treasured book in our home.
I love this book! I honestly don't think I've read it since I was in 3rd grade! It will always be a favorite. :)
4/5 stars. Physical book. I never read this book in school, but it was simply written and such a good story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I remember reading this in Elementary school and recently decided to read the whole series after re-watching the Hallmark movies earlier this week. Sarah, Plain and Tall is a great short story. It’s actually based on a true event in the author’s family history. A quick and easy read that those young and old can enjoy. Also, up until I requested these books from my local library I had no clue that there were two more books after Caleb’s Story. We only read the first book in school and since Hallmark only made three movies I guess I just always assumed that’s all there was. I’m quit excited to see what the last two are about. This is definitely a book I recommend to everyone.

Read this a chapter at a time with my children; this may have impacted flow. This book managed to be both deep and to lack depth. We stayed in the shallow end of a very deep pool. We can see it, we know it's there, but until the resolution at the very end we don't feel it. The last couple pages elicited an emotional response. Tears were shed. I wish I'd have had a connection all the way through.

What a beautifully written story. It's short but packs in so much depth. It deals with the lingering effects of losing a loved one in such a gentle way that's appropriate for children.
Told from young Anna's POV, we experience she and her brother Caleb's insecurities and curiosities. Caleb was so darn loveable, and the growing affection between Jacob and Sarah (a mail order bride from Maine, there on a trial basis) was very sweet.
