I got the book because the games always seem amazing but I suck at playing them. So I figured reading the book would tell me what it is all about. I read the French translation of this book which was a bad idea. The translation was quite bad. Aside from that however, I found the story good despite time passing way to quickly and being very 'game like' at the beginning. Getting Codex pages and new weapons whenever he kills a person on his list. Like the way you would get prices when you finish a chapter.
Still I thought it was worth reading.

I really enjoyed this novel and being able to dive back into Ezio's story again. I have a feeling I appreciated the novel way more because I have played the game. What took me a bit out of the story was the fact that there a lot of modern terms used which did not suit the era.
I have just discovered this series, so have come a little late to the table, but am looking forward to reading more of Oliver Bowden's take on the Assassin's Creeds games (of which I have played the vast majority). Having played the games, I already had a general sense of the story line and characters, so I knew that the time period (1476 - 1503) and plot (Templars vs Assassins, intrigue, secrecy, stealth and mystery) appealed to me already.
I enjoy the mesh of history - and there's a lot of name dropping in this novel as it traverses the Grand Renaissance - and light fantasy/sci-fi. It has action, it has swash buckling, it has light humour and light romance, a solid backing of historical characters and enough intrigue to keep me turning the pages. A definite must for those who have enjoyed the original game - as it fills in a lot of missing detail, and adds real background and character to the famous Ezio as he progresses from a cocky street punk with a home and family, to a wandering man in his 40s who has dedicated his life to finding the truth and saving the world from his enemies. Although he has a solid surrounding cast of friends and allies, his character is often portrayed as being alone, emphasising the sacrifices he made to follow this path.
I'm really looking forward to continuing onward with this series - in fact, I have just bought all 8 books, so will be spending a lot of time with this series in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed being back in 15th century Italy with Ezio and the assassin gang. As someone who've played the game years ago, it was nice to get the story refreshed now that I'm getting further into the story in the other games.

That was like one really long cutscene in my imagination! Bowden did a good job adapting the game into book format. It was a fun read, and I’ll definitely be picking up others in the series. Ezio is such a badass!!
Lol I feel like I have a mental block about the title of this book though; I keep reading it as “Assassin’s Creed: Resistance” - which is also a fitting title! #resistthetemplars

3 Silver Stars
first 40% was interesting! Exciting! I loved it. I was obsessed! if the story had been continued that way, I would give it 4 stars.
but after that,
Not so much
after Ezio's vengeance, then the story fell into a repetitive process, that got boring.
It was all reminded me of:
*mysterious hoarse voice*
"You have failed this city!"
(Did you get the reference?
If not, It's an iconic quote from 'Green Arrow' series)
Nothing new happened (for a while)
it could be shorter, if some events just 'mentioned' in 1 line or 2, not the whole scene repeated with just different characters on the other side, & it didn't take long to read. (for me)
or maybe if you play & like its game, it still sounds good to you. I didn't, so It wasn't.
I liked Ezio.
& the ending was wonderful & unexpected.
& the writing style, as in environmental descriptions, it was brilliant & beautiful.
in action parts, it was too much.
& in some parts, it was too little, which made it too fast pace. (for example, there was a competition, & without any dialogues or how the protagonist felt during that or anything else, it was like: 'it was a running race & "X" won.' just in one & a half line.)
Also that too less explanations was a few more in like 'escaping' or 'rescuing' missions, I wanted to see how they escaped, but there was no details, that was a disappointment.
the world was awesome, Italy during Renaissance. I like historical fictions. in here, the descriptions was enough & beautiful.
characters were the strong part of the story.
& we met some famous real people too, I was so happy when I saw them. :)
