This is the perfect companion novel. I read Wendy Higgins' [b:Sweet Evil|11808950|Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1)|Wendy Higgins|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1337613719s/11808950.jpg|16762455] trilogy years ago and it was a great lazy day afternoon type series. Sweet Temptation shows us Kai's side of the journey. I'm normally hesitant about novels that are just another character's POV as things tend to be repetitive of the first book, but in this case (possibly because it had been a while since I read Anna's version) I found it to be entertaining and refreshing. Knowing what was going to happen, I didn't feel the same suspense or intrigue as I did with [b:Sweet Evil|11808950|Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1)|Wendy Higgins|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1337613719s/11808950.jpg|16762455]; however this didn't detract from Kai's book. I still thought it enjoyable.

"I am confused. I don't enjoy being confused."

This one is a companion book told from the POV of Kaidan Rowe. It's his view of the entire 3 books in the series all rolled into this one.

This is a great treat for those that have already read the series. If you enjoy getting the same experience through another pair of eyes, it's definitely worth it. His brain is pretty much the opposite of our girl Anna. Her's is all Southern sweet charm and his are the British dirty grit. His thoughts are much, much more naughty. It's also fun to get to see experiences that happened when Anna was nowhere around. During quite a bit of the trilogy they were apart, so there are quite a few new scenes that were never covered in the trilogy.

Finally!

Y'all, this series was a struggle but I am proud of myself for sticking it out.

All right, so the fourth book in this "trilogy" is literally the first three books crammed into 500+ pages all from Kaidan's POV. I can sum this book up in two words: COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY

This actually made me dislike the character of Kaidan - I mean, he wasn't my favorite by a long shot, but he was at least tolerable and interesting. And this book just shot that to shit. Nothing new was added - save for like 2 scenes - and the only thing this showed me was how much of a sad, whiny boy Kaidan was. Oh, and an interesting revelation - the instalove was strong on his side.

But I'll be honest, I went in expecting to not really like like the book so I wasn't too disappointed. But the worst part for me was the way the story was put together. It seemed like no thought went into it and Higgins just grabbed parts of the original series, switched them to Kaidan's POV and tried to stitch them all together. Because of this, the story felt very disjointed and not cohesive at all.

Overall, a disappointing series that sadly had a good premise - just wasn't executed well.

I can't even explain how much I loved this book. Seeing all the special moments through Kaidan's eyes just killed me. I absolutely love the Sweet trilogy and this companion is beautiful as well.

Way better then the preceding trilogy. The whole thing should have just been done from Kai's POV. A bit disjointed with many gaps because we are just getting his side, the novel still manages to be gripping and well paced. I wasn't doing well when I read the original 3, and to this day I think it really tainted my experience. I think I definitely need a reread one day!

I definitely recommend this to those who liked the trilogy; however reading it is a must I feel to be able to read this since so much is left out.

This book wasn't particularly good but it was sooooo addictive, just like the rest of this series.
This is really just the entire trilogy mashed up into one book, and is often very poorly executed. There is a lot of "telling" and boring, stale explanations of events that happened in the original books. Still, I had a lot of fun reading this, and devoured it in almost one sitting.

Original review on Julalicious Book Paradise

I fell in love with Kaidan Rowe all over again with this book. I wouldn't advise to read this before you read the other 3 books because you might get confused because the author just goes through some big part of the other books quickly since she's really focusing on Kaidan's journey through the trilogy.

Reading from his perspective really helped us get to understand him more. I knew things weren't easy for him, but you really got to see just how hard it was for him. You learn a lot through him and reading his thoughts, his feelings was just heartbreaking sometimes. I won't lie sometimes I just thought he was an idiot and I wanted to slap him, but it always redeemed himself after that.

Reading about him and Anna brought me back to the first time I read the trilogy and I just couldn't wait to arrive to my favourite parts of their relationship.

And I missed reading about the other characters too. I liked to see them again and I won't lie, I would love to read more about them. Think Wendy could come up with some novellas for them? I'd like to know what happened to some of them.

So this is short, but seriously, if you get to read the trilogy, you have to read this one as well. I know some people don't nessarely enjoy reading the same story from the other main character's point of view, but this one is really worth it.

Wendy Higgins has brought us back to her world brillantly.
