Thank you to @NetGalley for gifting me a copy of the audiobook in return for an honest review. About half way through I downloaded the ebook from Amazon and followed along there also. I was very addicted to the book, audiobook, characters and plot!

This book lures you in to the plot and the characters. You began fighting each battle with them. This is one of the best fantasy books I have read. It holds you captive. It is a very well written book.

Slate is under a time limit in a live or die situation. Four tasks have to be completed by four different people or he dies a slow painful death.

Cadence finds herself at odds with her father as she is caught in between the battle between her father and Slate.
That's all you are going to get from me on this book. It is phenomenal and should be gone into blind. Let it weave its magic and captivate you!

The narrators did an amazing job also. They along with the plot lured me in. They also get a 5 ⭐️rating.
Read this book! I'm off to read the second book!!!!!

Review:
Of Wicked Blood is a story of surviving and finding one's balance and discovering their origin.
Slate Ardoin has spent his childhood changing foster homes and parents, learning to survive on streets before anything else. Only three things are important to him, his foster brother, Damien, his cactus and his bank account. He never knew his origin, until a letter arrives which claims to know him, his family and his origin.
Cadence De Morel has lived her whole life in a small town, Broom, full of folklores and witchcraft history. But she never knew that these stories were true, there folklores were true, and the curses as well. A stranger, Slate waltzes into her life, and everything falls apart.
Slate wanted nothing but revenge, from the man who knew his parents, who knew who Slate was, and who knew how painful his childhood was. This man, De Morel knew everything, but he did nothing to protect him. Out of anger, Slate robs De Morel family's crypt and a ring from a corpse. Unbeknownst, he starts a curse, that would not only kill him but will harm all the people in the town.
I first started listening to this book because I liked the cover, and ended up liking alot about this book. The narrators were perfect, they expressed the character's feelings, personality and beliefs with their voice. I liked their voice, and enjoyed listening to the book.
Slate is not a good guy, but he's not a bad guy either, He just did what he had to do to survive, which makes his character much more realistic.
I enjoyed listening to this book. The characters are well developed, the plot is intriguing and there are some good plot twists.

*I received a free copy of Of Wicked Blood. This has in no way influenced my voluntary review which is honest and unbiased.*

Oh my gosh, this writing duo rock! I had already read books by Hayoz, but somehow, I hadn't read any by Wildenstein before. That is about to be corrected, and very soon.

Of Wicked Blood is a dark tale, with magic, a quaint, weird town, and some very compelling characters. Slate and Cadence are the two main characters, but many other characters are extremely important when it comes to the story and the plot.

There is both mystery and suspense, and while there is a very strong plot and story, I still feel that the whole thing is character-driven as well.

Definitely a book mystery / fantasy lovers should pick up! I loved that it was set in a fictional town in France, and the mix of French (which is always explained) and English made it even better!

I loved reading this book! I feel like this story had everything you could want; a damaged bad boy (who you fall for because he’s beautiful), magic, sirens, ghosts, dragons... the list goes on. This book hooked me from the beginning and didn’t fail to keep my interest peaked. I would definitely recommend reading this book!

Both authors have produced a very well built and thought of story plot. The mystery and web of controversy are sewn flawlessly.

From book one to two, I have enjoyed how this magical town takes its root in me. I love Cadence’s pure and loving heart, Adrien’s protective soul, Gaelle’s motherly care and love, and Slate’s broken yet faithful heart.

The chemistry between Cadence and Slate is electrifying. A touch seems to translate into more while reading it. That’s how good the romance has been set but, take note, doesn’t revolve majorly on romance.

So, I really love Slate. Super rooting for him. I love his broken and flawed character. His rough upbringing and experiences strengthens him and makes him guarded but he never loses his heart. It shows how he protects and loves Bastian. And I love how as the story progresses he opens and welcomes everything.

One day I was looking for a new audiobook and I came across this one in NetGalley. While I haven’t read anything by either of the authors, I have quite a few of Olivia Wildenstein’s books on my tbr. After reading the summary, I knew this was my new audiobook. I am so happy with my decision!

This book has super creepy vibes. It’s set in a small gothic town in France (they all have French accents, so I’m pretty sure it’s France!) and weird, unexplainable things have started to happen. What the main characters find out stunned me. The story is an extreme roller coaster with tragedy, lots of suspense, magic, and, of course, bits of romance. The ending wrapped up most of the storylines for me, so I’m curious where book 2 will be going.

The characters are really the driving force behind this book, specifically the two main characters, Cadence and Slate. Cadence is an innocent bean that needs to be protected, while Slate is... whew. Slate is Slate. He’s my favorite character. Out of everyone in the book, he is the one that develops the most.

If you are a fan of urban fantasy - think along the lines of Shadowhunters - definitely try this book!

Whoa this book took me by surprise in the best possible way.

It starts with a broken boy getting a letter from someone who knew his real parents were and that he had an inheritance he needed to come collect and a rich girl who was crushing on a family friend who thought of her as a sister. I won't lie.. the beginning was a little off putting. I was afraid Cadence was going to be a snobby rich kid but she wasn't at all. Also Slate was amazing from the beginning. One of his first acts was to steal from a tomb and get stuck in the town. He was brash and funny and completely comfortable with himself and I love him. Cadence turned out to be such a strong character. Her little school girl crush annoyed me at first but I feel like she completely grew into her own person in this story. She stood up to her dad and learned some pretty difficult truths about her life.

I loved this story. I loved each character so so much. I can not wait for the next book!

I got an early copy of the audiobook from net galley and the narration was fantastic! Thank you!

BEST AUDIOBOOK EVER!

Fabulous story and kudos to the authors for just sucking me in! The twists and turns and imagery was just superb!

What did I like? Other than the weird names in this book, this is a five star story. Starts when one of the four main characters activate a curse and has to solve a puzzle to ward off death. As a group they struggle together to piece together a curse of dark magic in the tiny town of Brume. The audiobook was amazing!

Would I recommend or buy? Yes, if you’ve never listened to audio then this is the best one I’ve ever heard. It was entrancing and I caught myself wanting to listen more than read. An excellent tale and I can’t wait for the next part. This doesn’t end on a cliffhanger but does feel like there is more to the story!

I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review! Five stellar stars!

Oh I really enjoyed this concept so much!
