Very well researched, practical advice with interesting real world examples that don't go on too long to labour the point. I got a lot from this book.
3.5 Has some practical advice, good supporting research and anecdotes, but I wasn’t racing to finish it even though it was a fairly quick read.
Been meaning to read this for a couple of years and really glad I finally did. Defines some really useful evidence-based tools for engaging with our inner dialogue and managing the 'chatter' inside all of our minds. Quick and easy to read. I'm not usually one for self-help books but this was worth it.

Great self help book. Very informative giving information that was awe inspiring.
Quite dry, but really informative. I especially appreciated the tools sections at the end.
An interesting and beneficial book, backed up by both personal stories and international research. It offers insights into why we have such 'chatter' in our heads, as well as scientifically-tested strategies for managing it. The combination is artfully woven together to make this an extremely readable book that will give you lots to think about. I particularly enjoyed the collection of tips at the end, which acts as a not just a summary of the content covered in the preceding chapters, but also a useful reminder of the skills you can use if your chatter starts taking over again.
Lots of good advice on how to control my inner voice. As someone who tends to lay awake in bed long into the night while my brain won't shut up (about work, upcoming plans, wedding planning, etc), I'm excited to try out new techniques. It also reinforced some strategies that I already knew (like de-cluttering my own space, and feeling better after a walk in nature). And the medical librarian in me appreciated that his advice was rooted in evidence-based practice.
Somewhere between 3 & 4 stars - my anxious brain loved it
