Chatter

Ethan Kross

3.87 AVERAGE

This is a pretty quick read, but Kross packs a lot into it. Full of practical, actionable guidelines on mitigating negative chatter; you can apply the research in this book directly (and immediately) to your life – for the better.
informative fast-paced

This book was neither very jargon-y nor too abstract. Each chapter had a practical coping technique for breaking negative thought spirals with a little of the science behind each one.

Biased against self-help books but I had high expectations for this one. Wasnt what I wanted it to be- but whether thats more a reflection of myself or the book itself, I am unclear.

Felt way too brief. Anecdotes mentioned were surface-level and most of the tools used are not much help with my kind of chatter unfortunately. I did appreciate the vulnerability in the author deacribing his inciting incident, his daughters & self-talk trick of changing pronouns.
funny informative inspiring reflective medium-paced

Highly recommended for anyone who is exhausted by the loud, negative chatter in their own head, or who loves somebody who deals with a lot of self-negativity. The writing is engaging and you’ll come away with some very helpful tools.

Interesting read. Gave me lots to think about. I like the practical aspect of it.

Practical advice for all

Fantastic book. I'm already following some of the tips and am actively working to adopt more, specifically a ritual that calms my mind.
