This book took me awhile to get through. Kind of slow, picks up in the middle, then sort of plateaus again. Not a huge fan of the rich vs. poor aspect but some of the lessons Ed learned were good. Jess and Ed also had some good banter.
Graphic: Bullying, Vomit
Moderate: Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Terminal illness, Kidnapping, Classism
Nice, feel good read. It gives hope that all things do not have to stay the way they are, and moving outside your comfort zone can be a good thing.

Reminded me a little of little miss sunshine. The characters and their interactions with each other were so funny and sweet and real. She is an awesome writer. Couldn't put the book down!
I am really loving everything Jojo Moyes writes! She doesn't seem to be formulaic in her writing, so each book is enjoyable because I'm not expecting the same old thing to happen each time.
This was a great story about a down on her luck single mom (Jess), her 8 year old math-whiz daughter (Tanzie), her bullied teenage stepson (Nicky), and a random wealthy, divorced, in trouble himself stranger (Ed) who somehow finds himself driving this odd little family and their ginormous, smelly, drooling dog to a math Olympiad in order for the daughter to win the funds to go to a specialized private school.
You come to feel so much for both Jess and Ed and you find yourself rooting for them all from the start. And I just want to hug Nicky and Tanzie.
The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because parts of it ran a little slow and became a little predictable. BUT... I loved this book. I really, really did.

I had a hard time rating this, it definitely had its flaws, very predictable etc., but at the same time, I couldn't put it down.
