It was interesting enough and at times also pretty funny, but there was also quite a lot of repetition

This is the first textbook (style) of book I’ve ever actually enjoyed! I now know two things for certain. 1. I know what steps are needed to survive a zombie apocalypse or uprising. 2. Even with all that, I would never survive an uprising. I loved the little bits of world building the audience was given, it was really cool to see such a similar yet so different world! Hopefully I never have to go through a zombie apocalypse!

I really really enjoyed this book (although Survival Guide is still my favourite!). It is written as a collection of historical accounts of zombie encounters from the very early B.C's through to the present day. These accounts are taken from around the world and are written and illustrated with evidence to back up the conclusions drawn with a bit of a summary of the consequences and how the powers that be handled each event. The illustrations are just superb and really capture the grotesque horror of the zombie threat and illustrate the historical aspects brilliantly (so much so you really start to believe it). A great addition to any Max Brooks collection!

As a fan of all things zombie, I loved this book. Not only is it a very entertaining read, it is highly informative too and many of its lessons can be applied to more than just the Zombie Apocalypse with tips on how to defend yourself, family and friends and your home/fortress from raiders and bandits as well as the zombie menace.

Brooks has obviously thought long and hard about the zombie issue, including it possible origins, potential for spread and how to survive in the long term (more specifically how long the zombies in question will take to decompose completely). The recorded events section at the end of the book puts his advice into context and shows how such situations should (and shouldn't) be handled. All in all I loved this book and was very tempted to place it under non-fiction rather than humour, especially when watching The Walking Dead and seeing all the things they were doing wrong!

I thought this was pretty good, but it needed a bit more campy humor to make it easily readable rather than dry. The best part of this book is at the very end when Brooks recounts some historical zombie outbreaks. Most of the rest of it ends up being a just a bit too dry and it's littered with walls of text.
