This is a well-drawn, beautiful accent to the main book from which the material is derived. Standalone, it might not be groundbreaking, but as a part of the whole, combining all three (this, the Zombie Survival Guide, and World War Z), there is a fascinating and solid work of art.
You wouldn't think that you could write a decent sized book on surviving something that is supposedly fictional but Brooks hit all the points to be thought of to survive the apocalypse. All I have to say is: I will definitely be surviving the coming of the zombies!
Another great addition to the zombie lore that Max brooks is building.
I do believe this book is a necessity in everyone's lives. The zombies are coming and we must be prepared.
No really, they are and we do need to be prepared.

I read this immediately on the heels of World War Z, and I have to say it was a much less interesting read. It begins well enough with details on zombie senses, physical attributes, etc..., but from there it devolves into rather boring lists and repetitive rules. I wanted to like this book, but I found myself counting pages by about 1/3 of the way through. It picks up a bit towards the end when it starts listing historical encounters with zombies, but not enough for me to keep reading it for any other than finishing what I started.
This could be a decent coffee table book to pick up and skim through, but as a book to read from cover to cover, you're better off reading World War Z.

Overall a solid read, took maybe an hour if that. I love the lesson in here about us needing to learn from history. The art was phenomenal and the story flowed quite nicely. It almost seeks like there is a book 2 of this? Either way this was a solid read!!
In the future this will be required reading during the zombie apocalypse.
