Ohhhhh my god I LOVED this book! I felt some real emotions in this book and I have a new fan favorite from Lucy Score! Dominic and Ally have a special place in my heart! And if you have the chance, I would highly recommend you read the bonus epilogue! šŸ˜ŠšŸ¤

this book was like devil wears prada x burlesque, with an added grumpy boss plot line. i liked the fact that ally was going through a lot, because it made her character feel real. dominic didnā€™t feel as fleshed out in that sense. he was def a sweet character tho. i really liked ally

Where do I start!

It had issues like over-objectifying female bodies and then people being extremely unprofessional in the workplace and calling another woman flat-assed and some others. But it got totally out of control when the guy started throwing money into our heroine's problems. Don't get me wrong, if I had money and means, I too would have spent every penny on the people I love, to help them come out of their misery.

The guy does that, good for them I guess. Then for some insecurity and trauma of his own, he snaps oneday and accuses the girl of using him for money, safety, and security which by the way the girl denied from the beginning but then accepted eventually. So then the girl leaves and clearly is doing everything to survive but he has to do some shit, right? So he again creates some fake trust funds and keeps helping her through donating Money and all that. Eventually, she forgives, cause hey LOVE! But throughout all these, the guy never actually says he is sorry for accusing her of being a fake, a user, money hungry, gold digger. He does say sorry. But what is an apology when you can't spell out how much damage you caused by using words that broke someone's sense of self!

Romance authors have this tendency to create grumpy characters who are only soft for the sunshine and when the grumpy one fucks up, we are supposed to forgive him, cause hey she is the first girl he let in! As if that's some sort of achievement or something!

Social media posts have already made it abundantly clear how actions are more valuable than words, but in all honesty, actions are nothing without words and vice versa. Cause what is the point of you solving all my problems secretly and not acknowledging in the right words what you did and how very sorry you are for doing that. Just saying sorry million times while playing around the bush is not enough.

Now, it's fiction. And it's also romance which shows happily ever after. If that is so, isn't it weird to show girls who forgive someone so easily after being disrespected to the core and call it forever love? Doesn't she deserve better? The author could have written anything. She could have written a destiny where in the end she didnā€™t need to be saved by him and he made genuine efforts and not money contributions to earn her trust and forgiveness back. But our author chose to write a story where Mr billionaire comes and saves the poor girl.

Right. Not for me.

2.75āļø- a solid fluffy romance, the hate stage didnā€™t really last as long as I think it should in enemies to lovers before it turned to taken enemies who actually like each other. Then the end miscommunication was frustrating and I thought couldā€™ve been more interesting and slightly slower to unfold

I love Lucy Score's books and this one had a Devil Wears Prada vibe that I absolutely devoured. Give me a workplace romance any day of the week. The tension between Dominic and Ally was INSANE!! Waiting for these two to realize their feelings was absolutely wild, but it made the spice that much better. I think I wanted the two of them to be together for a little bit more of the book though. I loved the back-and-forth and the banter, but I did think the third-act breakup was a little long and drawn out. I liked the side characters in this book as well and thought they brought together the rest of the book. This was a fun one from Lucy and I'm always down to read her stuff.

Lucy Score does it again with her grumpy x sunshine trope.

Wasn't disappointed in the least with this one. The tension in this book had me screaming from time to time, telling the pages for the couple to just get it on with each other. I'm glad that at least both characters had decent development with their personalities.

Dom's overbearing harsh personality was cut down by Ally's sunshine optimistic side, not only in their workplace but also in their personal lives. It was indeed a wild ride reading their story and though as cliche as the drama trope was (misunderstanding/communication issues), it was still a good read. Let's not even get started on the smut scenes this book had. All I can say is that Dom is built like a tank with a never-ending stream of bullets. I live for their romantic and cheesy moments as a couple; I would also love to read Faith and Christian's story if there is one, they seem like a fun couple.
