A bit “Protestant work ethic” for my taste but she has some good points.

She explains so much about how our brain are affected by various influences in the modern world. It is a little repetitive, but for me that repetition helped drill in the points, especially when listening via audiobook. I got a lot out of the audiobook, but I think I need to get a hardcopy to reread and really soak it in.

Good read in conjunction with The Comfort Crisis. Both secular, pop science takes that support the spiritual practice of detachment,  moderation, and mindfulness.

It was not as practically  helpful as I would have like.  I think this book would be most useful for a counselor working with addiction.

I had intended to do a full review of this one, but it's so unmemorable that the day after I finished it I had a hard time recalling the main points. It was interesting to read about the biopsychology of addiction and case studies of former addicts, but for the casual reader that one popular YouTube video on dopamine detox will give you the same basic idea.
