I usually really enjoy Anthony Bourdain's antics but this book lacked something composed to his tv shows. It just wasn't as interesting or exciting to hear him talk about his life as it is watch him explore the works and try weird foods.

So funny. Rude and unapologetic. Cut throat kitchen culture. Listened to the audiobook with Anthony Bourdain reading. So entertaining.

Okay idk why it took me a month to read this book, I have been pretty busy HOWEVER, this was such a beautiful story. I mean I am a n.1 fan of Anthony Bourdain! This book made me wanna be a chef. I totally recommend as a fun like read, it’s diff complex but has lots of funny stories in it.

If you've ever wondered what it's like to work in a restaurant, this will tell you. Shows like Top Chef and Hell's Kitchen only scratch the sruface. It's a super book.

I couldn’t bring myself to listen to the audiobook because it would have been simply too sad.
I read his articles decades ago and watched his television shows but never got around to actually reading this book.
I love Bourdain’s writing style more than some of the content (we get it, kitchens are full of crass, high, sleep-deprived people just churning out delicious food). I genuinely appreciate his complete honesty and that he doesn’t shy away from who is is/was…there’s no need to criticize him because he already knows his imperfections and he’ll tell you to your face.
I do think he held back about 10% of what he really felt or maybe he let more of himself out on his tv shows years later when he was even more comfortable with himself.
Anyway, this is an expertly crafted, witty, self-effacing read. Highly recommend.
