Finishing this nearly 17 hour audiobook in a week feels like my greatest accomplishment. Bit boring and slow to start, it was ok.

I enjoyed every minute of this delightful, engrossing road trip novel set in 1954 that follows the hero's journey of three young men and a charmingly precocious 8-year-old boy. I finished this book a week ago and am still thinking about it! This is a novel that needs to be discussed, so suggest it for book group or read it with a friend, like I did. 1950's America has never had any appeal for me when choosing a book. A group of teenage boys on a road trip seemed even less appealing. But Amor Towles' previous books were so entertaining that I gave this book a chance. I am very, very glad I did. I love this book! I love the characters, their digressions, and just the overall mood of the book. I read it on a format that doesn't show page counts, so I am SHOCKED to see it is almost 600 pages! The pages just flew by and I did not want it to end. That's rare experience for me. Towles is definitely at the top of my contemporary writers list!
