Cash by Jessica Peterson was a mixed bag for me. Mollie has just inherited her estranged father’s ranch. She has every intention of selling it. Cash is the foreman of the ranch and he was under the impression that the ranch was going to him. Mollie and Cash immediately hate each other. Turns out the will stipulates that Mollie has to live on and run the ranch for a year before she inherits. When Mollie moves in, Cash tries to make her life hell. As they spend more time together, they come to find that they have more in common than they thought. This book bored me for the first 100ish pages. I remember thinking that if I had to read any more about this dead dad, I was done. It dragged at the start. It picked up and started getting good. I smiled through the whole dance scene at The Rattler. Then it got toxic and gave me the ick at times. I really disliked several things about the first spicy scene. I hated how they barely knew each other and he already wants to get her pregnant. There were red flags that I struggled to find romantic. I liked how it ended, though, and had fun overall. I felt like this author definitely knows the south. The way the characters talk is like what you would hear in the country. I will read the next one and see how I feel about it. 3/5 stars for this cowboy romance.

I’ve officially broadened my cowboy horizons and entered my @jessicapauthor Cowboy Romance era!
Cash was absolutely EVERYTHING we want in a cowboy romance:
- Small town
- Hot cowboys
- Found Family
- Enemies to lovers
- Forced Proximity
- Banter for days
- Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
- Unique Romance
- Appreciation for cowboys in Wranglers and Stetson hats
Mollie & Cash’s story had me giggling and kicking my feet and fanning my face from the HEAT! What a ride that was!!
I cannot wait to read Wyatt’s story next!

Cash is a lighthearted low-stakes cowboy romance with a surprising amount of heart and spice and all the things I like about a cowboy romance with very few of the most annoying romance tropes. It starts as (a short-lived) enemies-to-lovers as Mollie Luck inherits her recently-deceased, and estranged, father's ranch where Cash Rivers is the foreman who thinks he is supposed to actually inherit the ranch. And not just like a tiny middle-of-nowhere ranch, like a multi-million dollar enterprise.
This book was cheesy often especially with the quick progression from enemies to near insta-love, but I stayed into the story throughout the book. I listened to the audiobook version, narrated by an alternating male and female duo (which I'm a big fan of usually) as the chapters alternate between Mollie and Cash. One big beef I had which is totally a personal thing: Mollie has inexplicable stomach issues (heavy relate), and it's an actual plot point as she goes to doctors and tries different diets and doesn't each the food from the ranch's cook at first. But then, magically, all symptoms disappear as soon as she's living and working on the ranch full time and no longer lives in stressful Dallas. That's it, that's the whole resolution. It felt so minimizing.
A big plus is also that there were no miscommunication tropes or third-act breakups tropes, thank goodness. The book ends on a scene to immediately begin on a sequel starring one of Cash's four brothers, and I'll happily pick up the next in the series when I'm craving another cowboy romance.
