This was so good

A bit different than I remember from the book, but it has been a long time since I read it.

I truly enjoyed this graphic novel. The characters were likeable. I loved the fast pace of the story. The artwork was wonderfully done. I hope there will be more graphic novels about these characters.

The cloak idea was pretty and cool, but overall this was clunky and without much vision or drive. Felt hollow.

"Magic is a responsibility, a burden, and a duty. You don't choose to have it."

"Indeed. Very few of us would, given the choice."

What is it with graphic novels that leave me wanting more?

This is a sweet and magical read with likeable lead characters, an engaging plot and interesting world-building. I love that Sydelle is a strong badass female protagonist and found her blossoming friendship with Wayland to be well-paced. The book's greatest asset is definitely its rich, vibrant and colourful artwork. A fun ride overall!

Sydelle’s skill with a loom has always come in handy, but when a stranger arrives with crucial information and a magical cloak in need of repair, suddenly Sydelle has something real to offer. When she realizes how high the stakes are and how many more secrets she doesn’t know, Syd has to decide what she’s willing to give up for a person she hardly knows.

This is a vivid and colorful story. I haven’t read the original novel but this seemed to move along well. I like the idea of woven magic but it does feel like this just glosses over the magical world building. I think it would’ve bored me in a longer form so I’m glad read it this way.

A beautiful and lush fantasy graphic novel—I haven’t read the original novel it was adapted for, but found it to be well rounded in terms of plot and character development!

I loved the illustrations and story but I think the magic rules and political stories are probably better explained through the novel version

** I read an advance reader copy of this book. **

Quick, fun read. There's not much too this story and there are a lot of details left out but there's enough here to draw the reader in and make them wish to learn more. Hopefully this story will be expanded upon in later books.
