I thought this was very predictable. I kept reading hoping something would change. There was a small twist at the end, but I kinda saw it coming.

I loved this book!! Such a good thriller with twists and turns I never saw coming. The beginning of the book was a bit slow for me but holy cow the ending was so worth it! Highly recommend especially if you usually guess the endings of thrillers pretty easily. Mary’s books have been ver similar to Frieda McFadden’s for me so if you like her writing you would love this one too!

so weird in a good way. i absolutely had no idea what was coming next

The Other Mrs. starts off with a slow burn but it picks up at about halfway through the book itself. I do want to put a content warning for child abuse on the book, so no one is taken by surprise. I also want to refrain from adding any spoilers to the book, but say don't worry if you are a little confused at first, I was until the first major twist of the story. Once it was revealed things started making sense. Some of the early chapters felt a bit repetitive, but with there being multiple characters the story was told really well.

Boooo tomato. Clear from the beginning Sadie and Camille were the same person. And why would a husband not get his wife help unless he was evil? At a sentence level the writing was painful, even listening to this on audio.

I don’t remember the last time I disliked a book this much.

Positives:
-Some of the descriptions of DID were pretty accurate.

*deep breath*
Negatives:
-Immediately caught on to it being DID. Found myself immediately angry. It was very obvious from the start and the rest of the book felt like a slog.
-No one but her husband caught onto this?? Her kids? The other people at work? This woman is a DOCTOR. You don’t think that other doctors would notice or should would have gotten fired long before that for not showing up or having more problems at the hospital? So many loopholes and questions.
-What was her reasoning for investigating the murder to begin with? For breaking into houses and stealing cars? Seems INSANE.
-So much of the book was just wildly unrealistic.

This woman goes to maine with her husband and family after the sister in law kills herself. they move into the house and you find out the woman is sort of losing her mind. she loses big chunks of her memory and days. im getting it confused with another book where there is a nanny in great britain who lives with this family she hunted down under the name of rachel to be closer to her biological father who then hits on her. There is an action scene and a cell phone in a ceiling. or maybe Im thinking of that movie on netflix where they move into a house and find a cell phone ringing in the ceiling of the person who was living there trying to frame other people. the point being it feels like everything else. they are all the same.

that name was rowan fyi not rachel- turn of the key by ruth ware.
