I didn’t love this book the same way I loved the first one, but I imagine it’s really hard to compete with the first one. This one was a bit slower, but we got more world-building than the first. I loved Oraya and Raihn’s story, and I’m excited to see where the next books will go.

this one took me a while to get into, i even paused reading it to read other things because i was struggling.  but i listened to the audiobook to help me get back into it and it did help! i really started to enjoy it more around the 50% mark, that’s when it picked up for me.  i almost want to give it 4 stars because of the last half but with how slow i felt the first half was i’ll keep it at a close 4 but not quite.  i did enjoy how oraya and raihn didn’t immediately get back together and she had to work through her anger towards his betrayal. but i’m glad that she finally and eventually lets herself give in to how much he does love her despite what he had done. overall, i love these two and this story so much.  i wish there was at least one more on their story but i’m hoping they make appearances in the following books. also very glad i read the novella before this so i could appreciate the vale and lilith cameos <3

LOVED the story and the world. Dark fantasy indeed. Broadbent certainly knows how to write characters and emotional connection.

One star detracted for explicit sexual content and profanity (see content warnings). It’s just not my preference.

A satisfactory ending to the night born duet.

I enjoyed book 1 more. This one felt like it was dragging a bit for me.

I'll start by saying I loved the information that we got during this book. However, I found the first 75% of the book so slow it was a struggle to continue. I love the content of the book, the pace was just way too slow. I was very pleased with the ending though! I will read more by this author though!
