This is a case of anything that can go wrong will go wrong.

This book has you in a choke hold from page one. There's never a dull moment. In the way the parts are broken up, the way POVs shift, it's almost like you're reading the script from a movie. This book was written for the screen. And I hear that it's going to be made...I hope that's not hearsay.

The way it centers around a family, one bent but not broken, the way this story tells of a parent's unconditional love. Will and Chris have two daughters. One whose death created cracks in their marriage years before, and the other now in mortal danger trapped in a sinking plane.

If you are a parent, what would you do to save your child? What wouldn't you do?

I enjoyed this book immensely. The characters, the scene, the atmosphere, the action. The constant threats on the lives of the characters... I really enjoy the way parents are ultimately the heroes. And the fact that Chris is the one doing most of the hard work, the one putting her life at risk; she's the one in the traditionally masculine roll of "hero", while Will being a leader in his own right, but acting more as a voice of reason and a caretaker for the souls under the water makes all of this that much better. It's forward thinking but in a way that makes sense. Chris has the skill set; she also has a mother's love and intuition to guide her. It's the perfect blend.

If you enjoy high intensity disaster movies, read this book. If you enjoy edge of your seat thrillers, where anything that can go wrong, probably will eleven times over, read this book.

I have no other notes. I enjoyed the hell out of this.

I really debated giving this book 4 stars because of the ending. I read the entire back half of the book in one sitting and I found it really enthralling. However, I found that a lot of the technical airplane engineering stuff and diving stuff went way over my head, and it was hard at times to imagine what was happening during the rescue because I didn't understand any of the lingo. It was also a little unrealistic that Chris would be able to be so involved in the operation. I grew to really love the characters, especially Ruth and Shannon, and I cried so much when I thought Chris died. I was stunned at the end when she ended up surviving, and I really liked the ending. It all happened the way I wanted it too, but it didn't feel predictable at all.

Just a really good thriller. I was completely invested in the whole mission to save the passengers, and absolutely loved the little snippets of character development through flashbacks and other people’s POV's. Really made me love reading again as i devoured this book in 2 days!

This riveting adventure story was gripping. I really loved how the author showed the bonds between father (Will), mother (Chris) and daughter (Shannon). The crashing of the plane Abe those who had to endure the unknowingness of whether they would live or die held me at the edge of my finger turning pages. Some of the terminology used during the dive and rescue had me thinking creatively and researching how the rescue could be possible but I love a great book with a tightly knit ending.

Could not wait to finish this book.

The basic story is interesting. However, the details were frustrating and at times laughable. The author created two main characters, Chris and Will, who are egotistical and know more than anyone else. They became boring very quickly. There was also way to much time spent looking back into the main characters past. So much so that once the author started going that direction I would skip several paragraphs or even pages in order to get back to the story.
