First thing that caught my eye was this great cover and I was instantly curious about the story, but the author delivered a great mystery with many twists and lots of changes that I wasn't expecting, so it was a really interesting book to follow and the story is current.
I really liked Candice, she was a string girl and the challenges just pushed her more to fight back and keep going. It was great seeing her toughen up and prepare to battle to save her friend. Not everyone would do it, but she face it with a lot of strength. Along the way we got to meet Vince and discovered a jaded guy with emotions and a good heart and I liked seeing him helping Candice and fighting for the true, he’s a great guy and needed to see this investigation end with a positive outcome.
I really liked the mystery and would definitely indicate for people that like surprises along with danger.

I'm glad that I got this book as a free ebook download from Amazon and didn't pay a fortune for it. Why? You might well ask, well I shall endeavour to tell you...and just as a forewarning, there may well be a slight spoiler or two in what follows...
First and foremost let me just say that I did enjoy the book. It was a nice, easy read. However, I did feel like it was a bit of a mis-mash of ideas of movies and TV shows that I'd seen before and all throughout reading the book I just couldn't shake those feelings.
The whole early part of the book was very reminiscent of the 1995 Sandra Bullock movie, The Net, wherein a woman's life was systematically taken apart by the "bad guy", destroying her credit, getting her fired from her job etc. No sooner had we gotten past that bit we took a turn into the Saw movies territory with a bit of the 2002 movie Halloween: Resurrection thrown in for good measure. What do I mean by this? Well people being abducted and waking up in a weird, creepy setting having to play "a game" but the whole thing is being broadcast over the internet...just like Halloween: Resurrection.
Then we get the supernatural/paranormal twist which is, for the most part, the TV show Quantum Leap, even down to the point that the word "Leapers" is used to describe what is going on with them.
So, all in all, it was an easy and enjoyable enough of a read, but a little all over the place concept and genre wise for me to give it any more than 3 stars.

This book was AMAZING. The plot, the characters and the surprise twist at the end were well thought out and written! I like how the author incorporated different societal, science fiction and supernatural elements into the story line.

Do you like thrilling reads that keep you on your toes? Do you like reading creepy stories that give you goosebumps? Then you should definitely pick up The Game. The only time that I ever felt creeped out by a story was when I read Deadly Little Secrets by Laurie Faria Stolarz.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is definitely a book that will make my favorites list. You know when you read a book and you really enjoyed it and you really don't know what to say about it? That's where I'm at. I finished it a couple days ago, and I don't know what to say other than I loved it and you should definitely pick it up!!!!

Gross. I don't know why I bothered to finish, yet another story about women subjected to horrible sexual violence for the pleasure of the reader - I mean the bad guy. Rounded out with a stupidly convenient paranormal twist.

In a year full of me reading stupid, awful books on my Kindle, partially because I'm a glutton for punishment but mostly because they were free, this is one of the stupidest. The actual plot ends about halfway through the book (There's a madman! With a plan! He'll host it in a can! Everyone will be a fan!), then veers right and busts out some preposterous supernatural nonsense, which is, unsurprisingly, tied up with a not even pretending to be subtle deus ex machina at the end. There's a love story, kind of, in the way "hey! two people are in the same room at the same time! Now they're in love!" is a tenable love story. You know the heroine is the heroine because the author has to stop every few sentences to remind you how effortlessly amazing the heroine is - which is true, but only because everything the heroine does is literally without effort.
Ok. Here. It's my favourite line of the book:
"This cherry sat atop the insanity-cake she didn't order and didn't want to eat. But someone had already smashed it into her face and dared her to lick her lips."
I've been working on unraveling that one for a few days, now. Have at it.

This book was different. The paranormal aspect wasn't what I expected at all, so that was a surprise, but different and interesting. The whole think kept my attention and I enjoyed it overall.
The negative, to me, was what I've seen a few other times. I read books for the "game" aspect, and in this case, the "game" lasted all of about 25 pages. That pissed me off. If you are going to name a book "game" and all the description say it's about a "game" then I want more than 10% of the book to be about the game.
But I liked everything else about this book. I just wish it had been called something different, and just mentioned there would be a game involved, but not make it seem like the whole book. I know, by the end, where he tried to go with that, but still. This would have been a 5 star book for me, and probably one of my favorites if it was named differently and didn't act like the game of the maze was the main focus of the book, because it wasn't.
Even still, I really liked this book. I worried at first. I almost never look at reviews. The only time that I do are for books rated under 3.5 on GR, but this time I decided not to look and give it at shot anyways. I don't know what other people had against this book, I thought it was pretty action-y with good characters and a crazy paranormal twist.

Wow this book is creepy and that is coming from someone who very rarely gets paranoid while reading something but this was an exception, I was freaking out. Especially when Candy tried getting help from the police but they couldn't find anything. It was as if she was going crazy. I don't know how I'd act if my world was crashing down right before my eyes. Its as if Candice blinked and every thing went from bad to worse in just a matter of days.
I think I would have reacted the same way as her, even if that meant my life would be in danger I'd still try to save my best friend. What's even more insanely creepy is that they were watching her and she didn't even know who "they" was. I guess the question that went through my mind the most was "How sick could someone be that they would push a person to their breaking point so easily without having any feelings." it's like they don't have a soul.
My thoughts on Candy were that she is one scary ass kicking, fierce, don't mess with me type of girl. In the beginning she put out this vibe that made her seem lost but once you for more into the book you realized that behind all that was this crazy chick that could cut someone's head off and not even flinch. She was stronger than I had actually thought.
The outcome of the game was pretty unexpected in a way, although I was happy with the ending it made me angry that it wasn't over but at least they are going to be helping others. The book was amazing, it was definitely a Stephen King meets Wes Craven type of story. With many twists and turns, and also action packed including some mystery.
I give it 5/5 stars
