I really love DN Bryn’s writing and this book was a great addition to their vampire series!

Rahil spends his time hunting the apps for hookups for blood and sex; being a vampire means he’s constantly looking over his shoulder and his difficult past prevents him from trying to make any long-lasting relationships… Until he ‘accidentally’ gets trapped (repeatedly) in the workshop of a metalsmith with a wall full of knives. Whoops!

Mercer’s life is all about his work and looking after his chronically ill daughter. But when a beautiful vampire quite literally crashes into his life, something sparks to life inside him - something he hasn’t felt since his’s wife’s murder. He ropes Rahil into helping him with a project he’s working on, a metal that will hopefully help heal vampires, and the two grow closer.

But both Mercer and Rahil are hiding things that might destroy their new friendship and the evil corporation Vitalis-Barron is moving forward with its plan to kidnap and experiment on vampires. To add the to drama, Mercer is being threatened by multiple people who want access to the rare metals he can create - but are they trying to hurt or help the vampires? And can Mercer tell the difference before it’s too late?

There was a lot of angst in this book and I was in the edge of my seat whilst I read! I desperately wanted the pair of them to be happy and I was so afraid of them the whole time; their HEA was hard-won and so deserved!

I can once again not contain my love for D.N. Bryn’s “Guide for Dating Vampires” series. Shout out to the author for giving me an ARC.

As per usual, this one gave me all the feels. As a parent myself (of a kid with autism), Mercer’s feelings about trying to both keep his kid safe and let them live their life was a punch to the gut. How do you do your best by them when you’re constantly terrified for them because anxiety is a bitch and your brain gives you the worst case scenario? Idk. Still trying to figure that out, much like Mercer.

When he accidentally meets Rahil, his world gets turned upside down by this terrible flirt of a vampire who is both enamored by him and convinced he ruins everything he touches. Will these two be able to get past their own trauma and issues to see what a great fit they are for each other? (This is a romance novel- of course they do.)

But you couldn’t ask for more terrible flirting, self-deprecation, and dancing around the obvious than Mercer and Rahil while they do it.

As per usual, D.N. Bryn brings the humor for a plot that has its dark moments, much like life does, with witty banter and insight into the characters who are so relatable…it almost hurts. Trigger warning out there for parents who try so hard to keep their kids safe and happy, all while trying not to clip their wings, and trying to realize you can’t actually keep them from experiencing trauma- you just have to try to teach them how to cope with it.

Another winner from D.N. Bryn! Seriously, every story in this series is fabulous. If you are interested in contemporary, diverse, vampires that don't all fit the stereotypical mold, here's your series!

How to Flaunt your Chains & Surrender a Vein book is fantastic, with just the right amount of slow burn and hit of spice. The way the romance unfolds between Rahil and Mercer feels so real, with just the right amount of stakes. (Lol) I particularly enjoyed the unique family dynamics that you don't get in many romance novels 💜

Yes if: You're looking for a sweet contemporary romance featuring a metalworking artisan and an electrical engineer who are brought together by accident and kept together through plot circumstances 😉

No if: You're not looking for a book featuring widowers and their relationships with their children.

Thank you for the ARC! All options are mine ☺️

*I need to thank D.N. Bryn for letting me read an advance copy of the book 4 of the Guide for Dating Vampires series*

You know when you ever felt different (because you're an empath or queer or have adhd or a non visible disability like migraines or high sensitivity, etc) and people around you tell you you're weird? And your self esteem is so low, you think you're a bad person a'd have no value.
Well, you're not (I tell tem they are the weird ones, I am totally normal, un my point of view)
You're just different you are unique, and you deserve to love yourself and to be loved.
D.N. Bryn have wonderful representations of that. Their sensitivity is amazing and makes you feel seen.

Am I babbling? YES
Here is my thoughts of this magnificent book : ✨ALL THE STARS OF THE UNIVERSE AND MORE✨
This series makes me feel like home (the same feeling I have with TV shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with movies like Star Wars)
I absolutely love Rahil (disaster dramatic queer vampire) and Mercer (serious loving single dad full of anxiety)
I laughed, I cried, I screamed ESCANDALO so many times!
Is it my favorite of the series? I don't know, I live all the books equally and adopted all the characters.

For some reason, I went into this one expecting a lighthearted, sweet-and-spicy read—and while there were moments like that, this book ended up being so much more. It's heavy. The mechanics of vampirism are pretty unique here, and I think it's also a pretty clear political analogy about how marginalized communities are treated. Given the state of our current political climate, that made this book hit me even harder.

I loved how our two MCs come together and work through their grief and loss. I appreciated that nothing was sugarcoated. The good guys don’t always win. Sometimes it’s one step forward and two steps back. Sometimes you make what you think is the right choice, and it turns out to be the wrong one—and it’s devastating. And sometimes, you consciously make the wrong choice because the cost of doing the right thing is just too high. The world isn’t black and white—it’s all shades of gray—and this book does a fantastic job of showing that.

This is the first book I’ve read in the series, and it works perfectly as a standalone. I’m absolutely rearranging my TBR to bump the rest of the series up, and I highly recommend checking this one out.

Thank you so much to the author for the advanced copy—this book absolutely blew me away.

I already knew I was going to love this book before I even read it because I had adored every other of their books I've read. I think this one has to be my favorite. Rahil as a character had me cackling with his inability to not flirt with Mercer and put his foot in his mouth. All these characters wiggled their way into my heart. One thing I really really appreciate about this series is the slow burn of the romance and ugh, the yearning. There are so many things I could say about this book but I don't think I have the right words to express my feelings. Plain and simple of it is I loved it and am so grateful to have had the opportunity to read this early.

Somehow, with everything going on in my life, I forgot to post my review for DN Bryn's latest book, How to Flaunt Your Chains and surrender a vein. Here it is, my favourite book from May, and my coffee!

This is book four of Guides for Dating Vampires, which is a loosely interconnected series. The books can also be read as standalones, but why would you?

Some of you might know that I am obsessed with this series and these covers. I´ve said it when I helped the author reveal the cover, I will say it again. These covers are probably my favourites. Other than the fact that I fail "don´t judge a book by its cover" test, DN Bryn does an amazing job at making me cry, but like in a good way.

What this series does best, and this book excels at is to tug at your heartstrings. I loved seeing  Rahil and Mercer come together through shared experiences (and trauma, thx @dnbrynn) and connect. Mercer takes a while to open up, and it was my favourite part, watching him fight and fail not to fall for Rahil, who btw might be my favourite character to date.

Rahil made me cry multiple times, and I am not ready to unpack why people-pleasing characters full of trauma resonate with me so much (I will save that for my therapy). He is flirty, silly and has a heart full of so much love that you can´t help rooting for him.

My traumatic experience with this book is that I finished it on my flight to Japan, while in the air, with no internet and nobody to scream at about it other than my husband, who was peacefully sleeping. But here I am now, screaming at you to pick up this book and fall in love with these characters!!!
