Pain in the axe - Daphne Elliot
3 ✨
Same 🤭

This was the first book by this author for me. It was a bit of a punt as I read it purely off the back of one social media post but I liked the list of tropes and wanted something new.
I enjoyed the setup, the characters were well written and I have read lumberjack backdrop in a long time so that was a nice change.
While I didn't feel I was lost by jumping into the middle of a series, there was clearly a couple of storyline that had already been set up.
I really enjoyed joyed having characters that were a similar age to jys4kf as I feel like lately all I've been reading is 20 something stories.
I tend to prefer darker books, which this definitely wasn't. Though I don't feel that's a bad thing as I was looking for a nit of a palate cleanser.
The mmc was sweet and intent on winning fmc round, with lots of other storylines to keep the reader invested.
While I enjoyed it, I don't think I will be reading the rest if the series. Nothing wrong with this book/author but it didn't pull me in enough to explore her ba k catalogue

Idk what to think, the ending was abrupt. I did not feel like we got a whole lot of accidental pregnancy plot. More miscommunication and second chance romance trope. And the ending was abrupt, i already said this but it was!!! I feel like they were just beginning to really get together and Chloe to like the guy(I forgot his name. And when the book ends with some plots that are still unfinished and really don't get resolved in the epilogue. Maybe it will be finished in another book but it is a standalone (I think because the fist book was about another brother, don't quote me on it though) in a series. The rest is a rant with spoilers. I rarely give a book lower than 3 stars but this one is really a 1 star read for me.
The resolve of the FBI investigation, which weren't really clear why they were being investigated anymore. The criminals were already locked up. Also they found these cameras in the wood and we never learn who did that. And someone committed arson, they knew who did it but don't explain why the arson was committed. And at a certain point there are these cameras dropped at the company with a "threatening" note to stop. And that never gets really developed or explained. There are these weird dudes that are following Chloe and that never gets explained. Why are they following her? My god I'm frustrated😅
