it was okay! some scenes felt very similar to acomaf, but sjm has a chokehold on faeries right now so i get it. the pacing felt choppy, some scenes confusing me and having to go back to try and figure out where i got confused and at times things happened too conveniently while at the same time had me feeling like nothing happened for like 86% of the book. i didn’t know whether it was a standalone or a duet and was worried it would end rushed. it did and didn’t! i’ll probably read the next book but won’t be dying of anticipation.
maybe i’m just too needy, but the lack of contraception use or mention of even a “tonic” felt weird. dude was raw dogging every time!!!!!!!
oh! also why did it take girlie the entire damn book to ask dude why he called her that nickname!!!! would have been my first question!!!!!! but also if a fae hottie king was making me combust 5 times in a row i wouldn’t care what he called me

Great book, gives a mix of different fantasy vibes. The world building is great without feeling overwhelming. I'm excited for a potential second book. Tears will most likely be involved if you read it.

Where to begin... I was very underwhelmed with the plot, the characters, and the "twists". Nothing surprised me.
I understand the comparison to ACOTAR, but I must say that it shames that series (especially ACOMAF) to be compared to this.
It felt rushed, while also sooooo slow and I didn't enjoy the writing, it felt simple at times. I even skipped most of the smut because of it and I rarely do that. I didn't feel a connection to the FMC so this was a difficult book to go through. On to better things

Really enjoyed this book! However, some of the writing was slightly confusing and didn’t love the smut scenes as they felt a bit repetitive and too often after the very slow burn.

Unfortunately this book felt like a copy and paste of other popular fantasy/romance series. The plot was extremely predictable in places and contradicting in others. I personally felt like the writing was juvenile, I felt like the characters were children trying to live in this adult, romantic world. I was unfortunately getting frustrated reading this book, so decided to DNF.
