4.5 stars!

I really enjoyed this third installment. I'm really loving this series so far. Otto is the middle child of the ten children - of which West (and Hudson) is a part of - and he and Saint, his brother, were in the Navy for ten years until they came back in the the last book.

In this book we learn what Otto's deal was with Seth Walker, and why he took the chance to run all the way to Europe to get away from him.

I was annoyed that he ran without listening to Seth, and that just felt too cliche, and how it took them like five months to even talk to each other fully.

But they did have great chemistry and once they got together it was good, although it kinda dragged near the end - and I got pissed
Spoilerat how Otto was ready to take the fall for the arson that had happened on Seth's nephew's behalf. I get what he was trying to do, but it was annoying and unnecessarily self sacrificing. Like the fuck??? They already waited ten years and he was gonna let them wait another two fucking years??? I was pissed off. But mainly with how Otto didn't say shit to Seth about what he planned to do, and he so he was lying to Seth's face for days, weeks, and not saying anything even when Seth asked him to. However noble the reason, it was stupid, and it felt like it happened just to drag the drama out even more. At least the kid finally confessed and he didn't turn out to be a total shithead.

Like...people should face the consequences for their actions, not have someone take the fall for them. That won't teach them any fucking thing. (Thank god it all worked out though.)

I was happy though that while Jolie started out as a bitch, and seemed to be going the direction of a lot of female character in M/M romance tend to do, that she ended up being good in the end and nicer and moving on with her life too. She deserved that and I was happy when she finally realized that.

Overall I very much enjoyed this, and Otto and Seth had amazing chemistry that I definitely felt coming off the page. Only had two annoyances through the book, but overall it didn't deter my enjoyment of the book all that much.

I continue to absolutely adore this series. The Wilde family never fails to make me laugh, cry, and swoon. The tension in this one was damned near perfect and I love everything about it. One of these days I'm going to manage to reread the series in the proper order, though..

re-read: doing this in the "proper" order makes everything so much more impactful. this book destroys me every time I read it, though. damn.

The plot is based on lots of non-communication and a lot of not telling the other person stuff under the guise of "protecting" them. That stuff drives me up the wall. There is little character development, they all act exactly the same at the end of the book as in the beginning, and they mostly have one single defining character trait. Ok for an afternoon one-time read.

3.5 stars. 4 stars for the first half (which was heartfelt, adorable and hot, Otto and Seth's relationship was so beautifully harmonious from their first meeting on) and the letters and 3 stars for the second half, which was frustrating, although I could see where Otto was coming from. The arson's reasoning didn't really add up though. The Wilde family was a fabulous secondary character once again and I look forward to the next books.

This story hurt my heart. Over and Over again. Its hard to review without big spoilers, but I will try. Otto Wilde and Seth Walker met when they were 8 years old when Otto saved Seth when he fell into a lake. From that day forward they were inseparable, the best of friends. As they grew into their teen years they realized something about themselves; they were both gay and both completely smitten with each other. And so it went, the two of them making plans for a future. That is until that future was ripped away from them. Just before senior year of high school Seth's parents moved their family away. It was devastating to Otto and Seth, but they kept in touch via hand written letters with the plan to reunite in college. But again this plan was thwarted. With no explanation Otto receives a letter from Seth breaking things off and requesting he no longer contact him.

Completely heartbroken Otto tries to get in touch with Seth with no luck and finally gives into his lover's wishes. Seth left him all those months ago and now it became Otto's turn to leave Hobie. He joins the Navy and spends 10 years in the military before he winds up back in Hobie for good. Coincidentally a certain old flame has moved back to town as the new Sheriff. It's not long before Seth seeks Otto out, finally hoping to get the chance to explain what happened all those years ago. However due to a twist, their reunion is not so happy after all.

This story really pulled the heart strings. Both Otto and Seth have loved each other through 10 years of being apart, writing letters they never send, Otto never being able to be in a relationship because he always feels like its second best. The pain these two men endured over the years due to the loss of each other was palpable. I just kept thinking "damn! I hope something good happens for them soon!" But of course, as soon as things are amended between the two chaos ensues and the road gets bumpy again. They really couldn't catch a break.

We do get a happy ending thankfully, and an epilogue 3 months down the road. It was cute to see how they were doing and to learn how things turned out with the big drama of the story. I enjoy this series immensely and am eagerly anticipating Hudson's story next. That's right the straight Wilde is up next. But in Nico's words: " He's a Wilde, how straight could he possibly be?"

well i liked the idea of this book, and the story on paper...
but on audible the narrative going back and forth in time was a bit confusing and disjointed.
enjoyable on audible but not the best of Lucy Lennox.
I have enjoyed these as as a series, and expoloring all the characters though!

I really enjoyed this. Second chance stories are tough to get right in my opinion. This was different. They both knew from the get go that they'd be together forever. That was always clear, and I loved that in this story. It was more of figuring out how to get there. It's a very romantic and noble endeavor. Both characters were amazing. I just loved them together.

My only pet peeve, is the jump back and forth with the letters every chapter. It took me out of the flow of the story, and it always took me a while to figure out who's POV I was listening to. Maybe it would be okay reading the book not listening to it.

This one really picked up.
I liked the mystery part and the fact that it wasn’t obvious from the get to who did it. It wasn’t a case where you couldn’t see who did it well in advance, more like how would that play out in the story.

Wilde and Walker together was great, even when they were struggling.
As always the secondary characters were good. Some were a bit annoying, but most just made me want to read their story.
