Pretty good definitely just action, not a mystery. The beginning was slow but after about halfway things got more interesting. Not sure I’d recommend it but would be a good chill beach read.

Like most of Grisham's other novels, this is a gripping tale that leaves you empty when you've reached the final page. A good choice for some summer beach reading.

Incredible ride of a story, it is easy to understand why The Firm is considered a classic.
In this prequel to Graceling, we enter the Dells, the neighboring kingdom to the East. Here monsters live, fabulous creatures like all others except for their bright, unearthly colors and the ability to control minds. Fire is the last human monster, caught up in world on the edge of war, just trying to live her own life.
Just as beautiful and breathtaking as Graceling. I loved all of the characters, esp. Fire, Brigan, and Archer. I hope Cashore writes more about this wonderful world.

My 2nd favorite Grisham book (A Time to Kill was the best imho). After The Firm, he went down hill.
Back when I was 12 I must have read this book a dozen times, I thought it was fantastic, compared to the kids books I'd been reading to this point it was mind expanding; suddenly here was a world with guns and money and women and the good guy finally comes good right at the end with an ingenious plan. Grisham's other books never really had the same effect, infact as I got older his novels seemed to get less interesting, until I realised it probably wasn't him getting lazier.
Yeah dumb thrillers aimed at the new reader market is the way I see this/these books now but I'll always have a soft spot fot my first time, even though Tom Cruise was in the movie and for some reason Grisham lost all bazillion dollars he's earned to date and had to make a 20 year reunion TV show, that must be the reason right? I mean there's no other reason for it is there?

Enjoyable and very fast-paced. This was an exciting story, though not one of my favorite Grishams. The characters were interesting, but I felt like some things were left out. Mitch's suspicion of the firm came quickly and without any real evidence. Plot points like that were overlooked throughout, but if you just settle in and decide to accept it I think you'll enjoy the book.
