Amelia Clarke is an orphan and ladies companion to Lady Ashworth. Anthony Hargreaves, the new Earl of Halford, returns home from the war after being thought dead and to replace his dead brother as heir. Amelia and Anthony, keep finding themselves together and develop a friendship. Anthony is tasked by his father to marry quickly but finds himself at odds with what he wants and what he can have.

I found the story sweet but with drama that seemed a bit out of place. I also felt that the situation with Amelia's past was resolved all the way. I'm not sure how she ended up in England and with her parents and who was her father. So I was not all the way satisfied.

I liked the secondary characters a lot. The girl that Anthony is suppose to marry is super sweet and I quite liked her, especially because that has a tendency to be a witch. I want stories for Kit and Elizabeth and for Anthony's batman.

Skipped through this. Not interesting enough to spend time on.

I read Tuft's previous two regency romances before reading this one and loved them both, so when this book became available at my local used bookstore I had to run to get a copy and I'm grateful I did! If you've read my reviews before, I do not rate a book 4 or 5 unless I would be willing to reread the book at least once, or own a copy of it. This was a sweet, somewhat slow romance that I thoroughly enjoyed! I loved that Anthony was interested in Amelia for the majority of the book (even if he didn't consider her a possible match at first) and I loved that spoiler: Additionally, the climax, though slightly unbelievable, was great because I'm a sucker for a real threat to the relationships besides just miscommunication.

PS I later learned that Karen Tuft (great name by the way ;) ) used to BABYSIT my father-in-law! Isn't that the best?!

Loved this clean Regency romance! The characters were enjoyable and the story was engaging and hard to put down. I hope the author continues in this genre. Would like to see follow up stories of Kit, or Lady Elizabeth, or Lucas.

I enjoyed this Regency romance -- the two main characters were both very likable and both have endured some trials and challenges. They were not "suitable" for each other according to society because of their differing standings, but it was enjoyable to follow the story and see how they addressed that challenge. A few parts were a bit over-the-top, especially towards the end, but still a great story!

A cute story. It really dragged on. There were definitely places I would've trimmed. The characters weren't anything special and the story was predictable. As far as Regency romance goes in the LDS fiction genre, it's pretty mediocre, but cute for someone who enjoys that type of thing.

If you enjoy Regency romances then this is a book for you. Captain Lord Anthony Hargreaves arrives home from the war in Spain, and is instructed to marry by his father so that their inheritance will be passed on to their next generation.
But what of Amelia Clarke, his mother’s companion, and his attraction to her. Can there be a happy ending for everyone.
Really enjoyed this story, (though not really a fan of straight romances as I prefer a lot of mystery in my books), really liked the characters and thought it was well written.
A NetGalley book
