I have not cried like this in such a long time over a book. I’ll probably be crying all night. Riddick and Finn’s story was heartbreakingly beautiful. Equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking, this book was everything <3
I’m happy that they get to be happy together. Forever. Literally. 💫🩷

Favorite quote: “He kissed the side of my head again, not seeming to care at all that my hair was damp with sweat and cum.
‘I’m not going anywhere, baby. Rest now. You’re safe; everything is fine. I won’t leave you. I promise.’” Pg 178
Review:
You know that gif of the guy slamming his hand down and yell "EmOtional DAMAGE!!!"? Well, that was going through my head for most of this book.
I am physically unwell. It started off so sweet, some highs and lows of the roller coaster initially, then things were going up real fuckin fast once they admitted feelings... And I had 100 pages left.
The characters were amazing, I want a Turtle, too. The tension, secrets, chasing their dreams. The characters were lovable, but their flaws and trauma were the focus of the story. It showed a masterful depiction of loss and grief, reminding you to live your life to the fullest.
Alex has once again blown me away with her heart-shattering storytelling.

Infinity stars. This book is everything and more. I went in knowing the ending and the twists that happened 70% the way in but I’m all about spoilers..even so it didn’t diminish or take away from the storyline. It still gripped me and had me all in my feels. I will forever recommend this book. I will forever reread this book. The way this book stays with you and just holds onto you. One quote is all it takes to bring me to tears every.single.time I read it.
“See Finn Man? Told you we would have that bonfire to celebrate.” The way it makes my heart ache and my eyes water. 😭😭😭

"Breathing, Finn, means that you're alive."
If you’re looking for a book to wreck you, then cue this one up. It’s an extremely emotional read, exploring grief and loss, healing and redemption. Discovery and love.
It’s a medium/fast burn and spicy MM-awakening, age gap romance with a nonstandard HEA. Despite it all, I do consider it happy. And perfectly fitting for Finn and Riddick.
Addendum nearly a week after finishing. I cannot stop thinking about this book. Even looking back to pull quotes has me crying. I forsee this being a book that will stay with me for a long time. So worth the heartache.
Thanks to the author for this early review copy.

Obsessed (and Absolutely Not Okay)
I’ll take Books That Destroyed Me and I Wish I Could Read for the First Time Again, Alex.
If you’re reading this, stop. Seriously—go read the book first. This one is best experienced blind. Trust me, it’ll hit so much harder that way.
I devoured this in under 24 hours because I simply could not put it down. I am not okay. My heart hurts and wants to sing all at once. Alexandra may have gently pieced my shattered heart back together by the end, but it still aches. This story will stay with me for a long, long time—right next to Pen Pal on my “I wish I could unread this just to read it again” shelf.
What to Expect:
🏄♂️MM Romance
☀️Age Gap (37 & 21)
🏄♂️Bi-Awakening
☀️Surfing Romance
🏄♂️Mentor/Mentee
☀️Grumpy/Sunshine
🏄♂️Unconventional HEA
"𝘒𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥."
Finn is your quintessential golden retriever. He's joyful, eager, and chasing the waves. After his mother’s death, he sets off to live fully with his best friend Turtle (who I adore) and Turtle's van Shelly along for the ride ('named cause Turtles have shells as homes haha).
Riddick is the classic grumpy surfer. Burned out on life’s routines and other people’s reckless risks in the water. But something about Finn pulls him in, and he agrees to help train him to surf some of the biggest waves out there.
There’s so much more to this book, but that’s all I’m willing to spoil. This is a stunning love story that tackles grief in all its messy, complicated forms. It shows how love wears many faces (romantic, platonic, familial, chosen), it reminds us that grief doesn’t disappear...it lingers, ebbs, and crashes back like a wave when you least expect it. And healing? It’s never linear.
This book wrecked me in the best possible way.
Thank you, Alexandra for the ARC.

How do I even put into words what this book is? I feel lost now that it’s done. I feel like I lived this great love story, only to be so soul torn that I’m not sure how to move on. I knew, KNEW, what was happening, and still, these characters and their experiences ripped me apart. I will be thinking about, recommending this book, for the rest of my days. Finn and Riddick are two of the best characters I’ve ever read. Alexandra St. Pierre is a master storyteller, whose writing style, language use, world building, is one of the best I’ve read. Ever. I’m gobsmacked.
The Leviathans called to Finn, bringing him across the country to shred the deadly devils. Finn, along with his free spirited best friend Turtle, and Shelly, the VW van, head to Stars Cove ready to embark on taming the waves the locals won’t go near. Feeling fear isn’t something Finn does, not matter how much the people in the area try to warn him. After one encounter, a local grumpy surfer reluctantly agrees to train Finn for the waves, knowing there is no way he’ll back down.
Finn is the cute golden surfer boy, perfectly contrasting the jaded and grumpy Riddick. The instant pull, the tension, that these two have is palpable. There is something cosmic about Finn and Riddick, like the universe is pulling them together and when it does, it’s like a new galaxy is formed. No two people were ever made for each other more. Riddick, for all his surliness, has one of the biggest hearts. The rigidity in his instruction is because of the care he has, the fear he has For Finn. Finn, his lighthearted, charismatic self, pulls his same feelings out of everyone around him, just by being himself. The deadly dimples don’t hurt either.
Nearly every character in this story is incredibly lovable. I’m troubled to find the words to describe Finn and Riddick, and everyone else, how the reader will fall for them. How the reader will be consumed by this book. It’s best to go in knowing very little. What I will say is that this story is life altering. It will change your brain chemistry. It is sweet and endearing, SPICY yet nerve wracking, adorable and crushing. This story will have you feeling every emotion in the span of three hundred some pages; you will be forever changed.
I was truly lucky enough to receive a signed paperback ARC from Alexandra St. Pierre through my family, Twisted Fiction. I may be fraught with emotions, but I am eternally grateful to receive this book, to be able to read and review it. I will forever more be recommending it to anyone who will listen to me.
🌊“He had dimples on both cheeks, and I would be money he could convince the devil to give him a hall pass with that smile.”
🌊“Get real, bro. ‘Ain’t no one f***ing Tom Selleck. Tom Selleck does the f***ing.”
🌊“Mostly because when he flashed those dimples at me, I tended to forget why I needed to stay far away from Finn Summers.”
🌊“You’ll be a good boy and take it for me, won’t you?”
🌊“That’s my good boy. Take it. Take it all, baby. I want you full and f***ing dripping with me,”
🌊“Breathe for me, baby. You’re so beautiful when you breathe.”
🌊“I’d been there, and I always would be, because I didn’t know how not to be anymore.”
🌊“The world didn’t deserve Finn Summers.”
🌊“Yeah, baby. Whether it’s right or wrong, you’re mine now.”

Why, just WHYYYYYYYY 😭😭😭😭😭 I'm heartbroken. This book took me through the wringer and I'm still here trying to process everything.
Watching these two fall in love was magical, it was like feeling the warm sun on my cheek. Riddick and Finn were everything. They balanced each other out to the max. Finn the happy golden retriever and Riddick the broody grump who warms up and falls for man who changed his life. They made each other a better person.
This is the kind of book that I wish I could read for the first time over and over again. It was just that good.

I’m not crying. I’M DEFINITELY NOT CRYING! 😭 *sob*
Finn, the energetic little sea puppy, was the epitome of a playful puppy. Then we have Mr. Grumpy gills, Riddick who slowly becomes less grumpy as we get to know him. These two were a match made by fate and were perfect for each other.
“You barreled right up to me and gave me shit for trying to surf on your beach, and you were just so… so full of life and fire. You made me feel when I thought I would never feel again. You saw me when I thought no one would ever see me again, and I just… I’m so grateful for you, Finn.”
The connection between these two was transcendent. Their mutual love of the ocean, surfing, and just living their lives made it so easy to relate to them. Their shared experiences of grief were beautiful and relatable. The banter between Finn and literally everyone was so good and had me smiling and laughing all the time.
I DID NOT SEE THAT PLOT TWIST COMING!! 😱 It changed how I was absolutely sure this story would end and made my heart hurt and break for both Finn and Riddick. The ending was so sad but poetic and profound. I just know that Finn is convincing Riddick to go tame the Leviathans every once in a while.
Shout out for TURTLE!! He was definitely the best side character. He was the epitome of Crush from Finding Nemo and I loved him so much. I’m so glad to see him have a HEA too ❤️❤️
