While I enjoyed the book and conclusion to the series overall, I found the pacing to be all over the place. The last 25% happens all at once and feels very rushed, when the end of the second book felt drawn out. The pacing for the last two books and conclusion could have been better.

I thought the ending could have been longer with more explanation on how Orisha healed after their common enemy was vanquished. It felt like the addition of the other land/skull plot line was too much to handle with the other themes of the book. After all this buildup of unifying and healing Orisha, we barely see that.

This finale was a bit of a shame. Though as I had already thought the second one was a little naff this carried on that trope and unfortunately got worse..

Why did I feel like Tomi was leaning further and further into writing a screenplay just filled with action scenes and looks from across the room? Why did all the characters have the same voice that is have to double check who I was reading as since they were saying the same things in the same ways? Why did certain characters not feature at all even though they paid a core role in the other two books. Characters seemed to have amnesia on their feelings and honestly I just didn't care anymore. Not sure how this happened as I adored these characters in the first book but the heavy writing really got in the way. A shame !

I don’t know if this one was me. I felt disconnected from the characters as it had been a while and I just didn’t care. Again might be me or my tastes have changed since I read the previous two. I’m not sure.

Not going to lie…pretty disappointed this is how the series wrapped up. Not a bad book but seemed very rushed and still some loose threads. It’s probably more of a high 3 star but the rest of the series foundation and atmosphere rounded it up.
