This book was almost what I wanted.

Jumper is one of my all-time favorites. I can read it over and over and still love it every time. It explores the mechanics and psychology of teleportation from the viewpoint of a person I can relate to.

Reflex took the previously explored world and added an element of adventure and despair to the story. Another great book, but markedly different from Jumper.

Impulse did not have the same feeling of the other two. In books 1 and 2, you were always exploring new territory, and finding out what Davy and Millie could do. Yes, there was jumping, but it felt like an afterthought. We never got to see the exploration phase that Davy and Millie went through. What we see in this book is Cent understanding her power almost immediately and beginning to experiment. There was no awkward phase.

Don't get me wrong, I loved this book. I don't think I've ever even heard of another book or series exploring teleportation the way that the Jumper series has. My issue with this book is that it feels more like the Twilight-Teen-Romance version of Jumper.

Ok, now that you've heard me complain, go read the book anyway. It is still very enjoyable!

Probably something like 3.5 stars. Great, breakneck plot, with some math thrown in for good measure. Occasionally clunky dialogue, but some pretty funny exchanges as well. Open ending, leaving the probability of more Jumper novels.

Another good book in the Jumper series, though not as intense as the previous two. This centers on the main character Davy's daughter Cent. This is about her learning to jump and trying to enjoy the life of a normal teenage girl. She had spent her life living in a cabin in the Yukon to avoid the people who experimented on Davy in the last book. There is a lot of buildup in this story, which is something that Gould excels at, as well as character development. The main plot involves Davy seeking out information about the people that abducted him in Reflex, and also about Cent's school life and investigating a drug and blackmail problem at school. It all comes together at the end. It's a good story, but the previous books I was into much more. Worth reading still.

The perfect sequel to Reflex!

This review was written with the assumption that readers have read the first two books in the series. I will not be treating the events in Jumper and Reflex as spoilers.

After the events of the previous book, Davy develops PTSD. He is paranoid that they are still after him and his family.

Having had a reclusive life as a child and throughout most of her adolescence, Cent, Davy, and Millie's daughter, now 16, wants to go to an actual school, meet actual people her age. She, more than most, has problems navigating the life of a high-schooler, quickly grabbing the attention and spite of the school's tough girl, Caffeine. As if that wasn't enough trouble, she also has to keep her family's ability a secret.

This book is different from the first two in the series in many aspects, however, if you loved the first two books this one will not disappoint. It will also make you eager to read Exo (book 4 in the series)!

More lighthearted than jumper and reflex. Loved the first half, the second half was okay. Meh romance
