Grave Dance is book 2 in the Alex Craft series. I'm so glad I got into this series recently and plan to binge listen to it as fast as I can. I've been craving Urban Fantasy and this hits the spot perfectly. These stories are full of fae, witches and whodunit and I can't get enough.
Alex Craft, grave witch and occasional consultant for the Nekros City police department is back and on a really strange case. We dive right in with Alex searching for bodies with the police and she quickly finds several left feet from different victims. This opens up a huge can of worms that no one wants her to find out about. With no leads, Alex decides to try her hand at solving the case but is left with more questions than answers. That's also about the time that fae creatures are being summoned to go after Alex and they're targeting anyone that's close to her at the time as well. It's a dangerous situation that our leading lady has to figure out quickly since it's leading up to something big.

I really loved finding out a bit more about the fae in this installment and hope to see plenty more about them soon. Not the best book I've ever read, but definitely entertaining enough for me to go on to the next one!
Kalayna Price's second installment in this series is a great addition, with another captivating mystery. In this book there's is a series of murders (with only feet left behind as evidence), as well as some magical constructs popping up around the city, and Alex is on the case to find out who's responsible. Once again, I loved the world-building and magical aspects.
My thoughts on this book are almost the same as the first one - except this time I'm knocking off a star since my problems from the first book still remained. For one, while I appreciated that we finally got some answers about Falin and his backstory, it took way too long, and it was frustrating that we had to wait all the way until near the end of the book. It just doesn't make sense why Alex wouldn't have pressed him for answers before (I mean, I get that she wouldn't pester him for his entire life story, but at least find out where he's been for the past month and why he showed up injured!). She just asked once and then dropped it.
Also, there was still absolutely no development with Death's character. We still know nothing about him, and I don't feel any chemistry between him and Alex, since he's barely in the book and whenever he does show up, it's the same repetition of Alex saying he's like her best friend and that she's attracted to him. But I don't feel the attraction or any bond between them because once again, Price tells rather than shows us.
I read the synopsis and some of the reviews for the next book and it seems like we'll finally learn more about Death. Now that we have some answers about Falin and I know I'll be getting some about Death, hopefully I'll enjoy the next book without getting frustrated at parts.

This is the second in the Alex Craft series and the character is still likeable. I read this quickly and was on the most part entertained by it. I did however get a little second hand embarrassment from Alex as she seemed to be heading a little bit into special snowflake territory with this one. There are noticeable changes to her powers contributed to the ramifications of the first book but the fact that these new changes are omgsorare make me cringe a bit. There is a greater emphasis on the world of faerie making it definitely stand out from the normal urban fantasy fare. I'll probably continue on with this series but it won't be in an omg I just can't wait sort of way.
Not quite as good as [b:Grave Witch|9323761|Grave Witch (Alex Craft, #1)|Kalayna Price|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1301316287s/9323761.jpg|10865876] in terms of character or plot, but still a good read. I had a little trouble giving it my attention through the first half, but by the end it was rolling right along. Bonus points for more PC.
I read the first one of this series a while ago and it took a few chapters to remember who was who and what was going on. this book was well paced, though, and kept me up until I finished it.
Whenever the first book in a series is really good, I am both leery and excited to start the second. It is hard to imagine that the next book can be just as good, if not better, than the first. And there are plenty of series where the second book simply falls short. This series, is not the case

I absolutely loved the plot twist at the end of the book. I adore books where I am surprised. If I can figure out what will happen, I get bored. This is one of many reasons why I loved this book.
The only part that I am not fond of is the love triangle going on with Falin and Death. Alex needs to make up her mind and stop leading them both on. Although she is not actively leading them on, by not telling them to stop, she is encouraging their infatuations. She needs to decide who she has feelings for and let that be the end of it.
