such a nice read. i will probably go ahead and read the rest of the series after this because i find divorce so interesting: its sad, awful, complicated and hopeful. payneβs experience was just so hopeful and inspiring. i never even felt ambition like that and i am just 25. beau is also just a quirky sweetheart who i relate to so much.

What a great book! It is very well written and narrated. It's definitely an easy read. It's not too heavy, but it's still very rich with material.
Highly recommend as a nice little palette cleanser. The vibes are fantastic, and I'll definitely be reading the rest of the books in this series!

The best part about this was no third act breakup. I picked this up based on hearing that Payne lets Beau color in his tattoos when heβs stressed. The idea was cute and the book was fine. I would have liked it better if there was more time between when Payne ends his marriage and starts things with Beau.

This is a book I have mixed feelings about, as I loved both protagonists and I did ultimately like them together (and they definitely had great chemistry), but the fact that one of them was pining for the other for SO long made things between them feel quite unbalanced even when they were eventually in the same place. There was also a period around the middle of the book where I found both of them and some of their decisions and thinking quite irritating and frustrating, but luckily that passed! One thing I did really love was the small-town setting and the great cast of side characters, so I'm still keen to continue the series in the hopes that I'll love future books more!

πππ 3.5 romance novels out of 5.
(3.5 = I enjoyed it well enough.)
This feelgood, low angst romance turned out to be exactly what I was in the mood for. Yes, it was predictable and neither the characters nor the storyline were particularly deep and complex, but I also didn't expect any of that. Payne as a character wasn't too complex, to put it mildly, but Beau's quirky and dorky character made up for that. Some things were a bit OTT, though. At least to me it is weird when 35-40 year old men build pillow fortresses and play act sword fights. As communication is key I liked that Beau was vocal about his insecurities and oddities and that Payne had his back and not only accepted his individual traits but also reassured him.
Payne sending out mixed signals was a bit annoying. Saying he didn't want to give Beau false hope while his behaviour spoke a different language. I was expecting there to be more drama, seeing as how "good" their arrangement worked, but luckily I was proven wrong. While behaving rather immature when playing around they actually communicated like mature adults and misunderstandings weren't dragged out endlessly. I really enjoyed their dialogues and at the end everything came together nicely.
The friends in the Divorced Men's Club were a mixed and interesting bunch I think. The following books in the series follow them and their love interests and I predict their stories will be equally low on the angst and high on the feelgood vibes.
