This book fell in between

First part:
I don't know if it was my fault for not rereading the first book but the first part wasn't good in my opinion. I think Reid wasn't being logical . He wasn't loving lou. He leaned on the obsessed side a little. Also, Lou was just ... Lou. I felt nothing for her.

The story was vague and not in a good way.

The second part:
The first part I liked was toward the middle of the story when Reid discovered the witches
Spoiler the male witches like him and started to understand magic in general

As the story went ,I liked it more.

I loved most of the characters by the end especially Claud. He was a great addition.Except maybe Lou. I don't know why I can't fully love her.

I liked Blaise's appearance and the scene we got to know him in. I loved how he respected his children and how Reid was there.
Spoiler I didn't like him to the end cause he would have left easily if Reid died

I loved Reid and beau 's encounters and especially the funny ones

A good follow up novel with more fun characters and a wider look at the world and magic systems overall!

I felt disappointed with this one, it wasn’t as good as the first for me. Book 1 held so much promise but this just seemed quite repetitive to book 1. The characters didn’t seem as likeable. The pacing seemed a bit all over the place. I’ll try the next book in the series and hope it’s just a blip.

This is the second book in the Serpent & Dove series.

Quick thoughts for the first one for reference: I feel like this series was overhyped because I didn't love it. It was entertaining enough but nothing stood out to me.

Now, here comes the second book and I want to keep trying and see if it gets better.

Honestly... it did not. I almost thought about DNFing about 200 pages in but I kept going. It did get a little better halfway through but this book was like taking 1 step forward and 10 steps back.

The romance is slim to none and the way Lou and Reid can't figure out if they even like each other after what they went through in the first book is just nonsense.

Not a lot happened in this book it feels like and I am confused about how the 3rd one will play out. I will read it because just the covers of the books are beyond beautiful.

Overall this series was WAY overhyped and that makes me sad because I think it had potential.
