Really cute story, reminded me a lot of a story you would see on Hallmark - or maybe lifetime due to the crazy stalker at the end hah. The only thing that kinda of got played out and too drawn out for me was Millie’s constant refusal to want to be in love/a relationship - especially her given reason not too. She would act very wanting and flirty, then shut Jameson right down. If that storyline didn’t feel like it was taking up nearly half the book I would have probably given a higher rating cause it was a sweet, funny, easy read otherwise!

Dnf’d at 73% because I can’t make myself finish it. Millie was insufferable and spent the entire book stringing this nice guy along.

I really enjoyed this next door neighbor, small town, kissing only romance between a librarian who is guardian for her younger sister and the sheriff who lives next door. Full of heart, humor and a bit of suspense. This book gave me all the feels and was great on audio too. Highly recommended and I'm excited to read the next books in the series now that they're finally coming out on audio!!

The fact that Millie was afraid of commitment, and then going on to suggest close proximity situations had me baffled.
Jameson wanted to let her decide what she wants, only to get into a relationship without having her word of commitment, then going on to comfort her when she was afraid of opening up, which puzzled me. Aside from that, I loved the cute blanket fort moments, chocolate wars and the skunk incidents.

BRIEF SYNOPSIS: Millie just moved to Waverly with her teenage sister in tow after taking a job as the new children and teen librarian. It’s been a year since their dad died, but they’re doing their best to make it. When Millie moves in she meets her next door neighbor Jameson, gorgeous state trooper and grandson of her landlords. However, Millie shut her heart off from any potential relationship a long time ago. She’s just looking for a friend. But the more time she spends with Jameson, the more she wonders if maybe living in fear isn’t exactly what she wants.

Well this was just a cute little story. I think I stumbled upon this on a kindle daily deal. And it was just adorable. A real feel good happy rom com. I really loved the dynamic of Millie and her sister Lo. I really think they had a good balance in their relationship as sisters, but also where Millie had to be the parent sometimes. And Jameson was exactly what the title says: a total nice guy who lives next door. He was so patient with Millie. There was also a side plot in this that I did not expect, and it was a nice surprise. I really adored both of Jameson’s friends as well and can’t wait to read book two starting Seth and Millie’s friend Hannah (who happens to be the younger sister of Jameson’s and Seth’s friend Colby.)

5 stars.

“Millie knows how to make a good cup of coffee—yet another thing she has going for her. If I wasn’t already crazy about her, this might just tip me over the edge.”

  1. ACAB. and honestly, all romance books with cops are truly horrible.
  2. The narration was a best too quirky to take seriously and at worst distracting and confusing.
  3. None of the characters were realistic or even interesting.
  4. Overall, yikes.
