My least favorite in the series - I’d say that about the first book but at least it wasn’t 750 pages long 😂 that being said! I did like the book! It was easy to get invested in Nesta’s story and to root for her. I liked the way Sarah wrote her character so that she did not get instantly better but progressed to where she needed to be, making mistakes along the way. The little details along the way to develop the side characters was entertaining, even when the plot took a big backseat.

The ending though…
Is it just me or is it getting REALLY convenient that one of the main characters is on the brink of death at the end of every story and there just so happens to be some impossible solution that fixes literally everything? 🤔

I loved the first books in this series, but this one now holds a special place in my heart. Healing from trauma is a grueling and heartbreaking journey, and I think the way it’s depicted in this novel was authentic and raw. This novel sunk its teeth into how complex it can be, and I think it was beautiful to see Nesta’s development — her steps forward and back as she tried to heal from trauma and as she made friends and learned about their trauma, too. I cried multiple times reading this book and I have to say, I will be rereading this as my favorite book in the series. I wish I had read this while I felt lonely when I was unpacking my own trauma, because I would have felt like I had a friend through the hardship. Highly recommend this book to anyone who is going through their own journey, has gone through their own journey. It’s beautiful and heart wrenching and so, so, so raw.

In some ways, this is a good follow up to the previous books, and very possibly the right decision to at least take a break from Rhys and Feyre whose stories reached a conclusion. However, the character chosen to lead was the most annoying character in these previous books and
Feyre’s story continues anyway with a dangerous pregnancy that almost kills her.
Personally, I think these elements could have been done better, either during this book or with earlier changes.

Still, there are many good scenes with Nesta’s personal journey and the relationship with Cassian. Then again, both struggle to be consistent, with very poor moments mixed in for each. There’s a bit of a lack of making sense that often comes up, from
the details of the blood rite
to
Amren and Nesta’s argument
but a lot of it is made up for by
Gwyn and Emerie
. Overall it’s fun to read, but possibly could have done with more care and more momentum given the time investment asked from the reader for the longest book on the series.

Who knew...
I wasnt prepared to relate as much as I did to Nesta.

The pacing and the story are SO good. Only one thing I would have stretched out a bit the end between the blood rite and the birth. And why she gotta give her powers away??????? Let her be a bad bitch more powerful than the rest of them. Fuck

I would have liked the whole birth bit to be in another book. It does seem fitting for her arch, but this is HER book. That's way too much about Rhys and feyre in the end.

Nesta and Cassian are my absolute favorite couple ever, no notes. (Maybe one note. Why does his schlong need to be truck sized????? Would still be good if it was big, period)

In my opinion, this is the best book in the ACOTAR series. Nesta is a deeply complex main character with a history of trauma and self-destructive behavior. How she deals and processes that trauma is deeply relatable and understandable, however her destructive tendencies are not glorified. Her character development and journey is one of the best I have ever read in a fantasy series like this. I love seeing various shades of strong, complex women in my light-hearted reading. I did not expect to enjoy Nesta as much as I did but she is one of my favorites now.

My favourite of the series! I loved how these books have the romance as an addition to the story, rather than at the centre of it. Big fan!

Spoilers
I soft DNF'd this book for months. Unlike the other books in the series I didn't have any real interest with the storyline at first. It took till the last 75 pages to get me to enjoy it.
It's not the worst fantasy book, the storyline is cool the romance is sweet but it could've been shorter.
I also found it extremely weird that Cassian never even THINKS the words I love you for Nesta. There should have been less smut and more romance (in my opinion) or less romance and better mental health for Nesta cause let’s be honest. A woman who’s thoughts 75% of the book are about 💀 herself, is not right of mind to consent to all that
